In general this rum is good and smooth good sipper. For its sweetnes and price it got not enough full body taste. Since its sweet and well known rum it tend to be overrated - yes there are better rums for its price.
Aroma: Sweetness dominates , then kinda fruity
Taste: Nice and smooth in begginnig due to its sweetness, little fruity then nothing big.
Compared to:
Pampero anniverasario: Pampero is cheaper, in taste its more full but less sweet.
Plantation 20yo anni.: For little more money you got much more in taste and aroma, plantation is little less sweet aswell

Sweet and rich, but not overpowering. Nice caramel and oak flavour with strong notes of spice. Smooth, definitely a sipping rum as it would be a shame to mix this. If you add ice it brings out the sweetness even more.

I can recommend this good sweet rum to newcomers that want to have a taste of a solid rum without paying the big bucks. It's affordable for "every day" drinking.

Ok this is a very popular rum. It is sweet enough but in a pleasant way. Mostly you can have one as the last drink of the night or for one or two drinks. You can try it with an orange peel or on the rocks. Good for its price and safe choice for a beginner.

Edit: one and half years later I come here again to admit that I had underestimated this rum giving it a 7. It’s definetly an 8. A really nice run although with a lot of sugar but this has to be not a crime :-)

Parfait pour débuter les rhums. Dommage pour l'ajout de sucre....

Also called the Botucal , this one is a keeper and a must-have bottle in every self respecting Rum Cabinet .
Try to get your hands on last decade's bottles...they actually taste as good as the Single Vintage series from Diplomatico.

Et must have i en romsamling i min optik.

En meget let drikkelig rom der bør have plads i et hvert bar skab.
