This is an amazing rum. It’s very similar to Dos Maderas 5x5, slightly less smooth, slightly more burn at the end, but overall phenomenal.

As of may 2017 this is my 2nd fav. I'm getting close to finding the perfect sipper. My favorite cookie is a molasses cookie and I look forward them every year. A great sweet sipper with very little burn and lots of flavor. I'll always keep this rum in my bar.

There is not much to say. Just so much, he is the best for his price and is like a good rum

Mein 10. Rating:

Geschmack pur (Note 6):
Geschmacklich zuerst abweichend vom Duft.

Geschmack in Cola (Note 5):

Profumo classico, gusto perfettamente equilibrato.

Dont taste too much alcool, roast butterscotch, nuts, spicy and a touch of vanilla in the final. One of the best quality for the price Ive taste so far.

Very sweet, like most Diplomatico rums.
However having just tried the ambassador and the single vintage, I can taste where this one lacks.

It's a little harsh on the mouth. I can actually feel my tongue numbing as the tasting continues. Tastes of the signature Diplomatico spice blend. Caramel, vanilla, toffee, and oak.

The finish is very long. You can sip this guy for awhile and keep the flavors strong in your mouth.

This was actually the first rum I ever bought. I was originally a pure whiskey-drinker, but I've expanded out. The motivation was having a shot of Ron Zacapa XO. Not feeling right about blowing $150 on a bottle, I looked around for something more in the $30-$50 range with a relatively high rating. Diplomatico R.E. fits the bill perfectly. I and my wife really enjoyed this bottle, but we both always felt it wasn't anything like the experience we had with the Ron Zacapa XO. I decided not to rate the Diplomatico because I wanted to see what happened when I tried some other rums. That was not until now. Just got Mount Gay XO (the original, not the inferior new version!) and El Dorado 12, and I have to say both are definitively superior in quality. This despite the fact that the Diplomatico R.E. is higher rated (8.2 vs. 7.8-7.9). I appreciate that these ratings are totally subjective, so it doesn't really bother me to not agree with the overall ratings. But I have to admit that I'm a bit baffled. Just goes to show that there's no replacement for trying something yourself to decide.

BTW, I certainly wouldn't write off Diplomatico R.E. if you're reading up to make a choice. D.R.E. is good stuff. I'd describe it as smooth to a fault, and more sugary than any of the three runs mentioned above. So if you're looking for very sweet and smooth, Diplomatico Reserva Exclusiva may be an "8.2" for you as well. Good luck choosing...or get a suite of rums!

Denna känns rätt given att ha i skåpet hemma nu!

Sweet smooth and intense flavour. Not as pricy as others but big value for money. Since it is often served in bars and restaurants, it gets often ordered.
