This is for me one of the best sipping rums. Sweet, vanilla, caramel, oak. I love it.

You can't go wrong with this one as a sipper. I'm tempted to give it a 8 but its just too darn sweet and syrupy, I'll call it a very good "dessert rum." I put a shot in my coffee and it worked well.
If you are new to rum, start here. Taste is great, price is great. You will enter a new world of aroma and taste. You will forget about everything you know about whisky and get into the wonderful world of Rum. This is one of the best, if not the best, rums I've ever tasted. If theres a rum god, this is it.

Very intensive rum aroma, sweet and smooth. Beautiful, dark golden brown color. Very good for the price, but not my favorite - can't really say why, maybe a little bit too intensive? BTW: I bought it as Botucal Reserva Exclusive in the bottle depicted above. There seems to be some confusion about it.

rhum très populaire, parfait pour débuter à apprécier "pure sur glace"
"The palate evokes chocolate sauce and the sweet toffee, fudge and tropical fruit flavours from the nose"
"The nose is dominated by notes of caramel, toffee and crème. On the back end of the aromas, I can detect a hint of smoke and pineapple"
via Inu A Kena
Smells sweet. It is fruity, oranges, grapes and raisins with scents of chocolate and a sweet almost syrupy.
"The tasting notes on the site are very accurate vanilla, fudge/toffee sauce are noticeable as are notes of vanilla and a finish which is slightly bitter like cocoa which leaves a hit of oakiness on the taste buds. The finish is pretty short. ."

Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Possibly a little too artificially sweetened, so not for everyone's taste for sure. Very nice dark-goldy colour with a beautiful smell and taste. Easy to drink neat, it would be a shame to ever mix it. A bit of ice is good to take the sweetness away a little.
