Smooth at first, with flavors of smoke, vanilla, a little dark chocolate, and some fruitiness with some coffee notes near the end.

This was my first foray into sipping rum and it did not disappoint.

I'll always have a fifth of Diplomatico in my liquor cabinet. I enjoy it neat in a lowball or snifter.

Easily the best rum I have tasted. Being a rum newbie this is by far the bestest(!) rum of them all. Price and quality match awesomely. :-)

It's very good but a bit strong in taste. I would say that Diplomatico Mantuano is a little bit better because it's more delicate and soft. Reserva Exclusiva is good but El Dorado 12 is the best one for me for now.

I am new to Rum, I found Bacoo 12 year which I have been drinking wanted to try something rated a little higher so bought this. I like this a lot but doing a side by side with the Bacoo - I will stick with that, This has nice color, caramel smell and is smooth. It has a lot of after taste so not as clean as my other favorite. The after taste is strong molasses. Good rum but could be better. I will keep trying new rums until I find that I love better than Bacoo.

This was the first sipping rum I ever had. I was given it as a birthday present from a teetotaller friend who knew I was a whisky hound and mistakenly thought this was whisky. I calmed him down by informing him that I was found of rum and coke and immediately tried it as such. on my first sip I could the the coke was hiding something so after finishing the R&C I poured a nip and discovered just how much I was missing out on in the rum world. best enjoyed with a nice Connecticut leaf wrapped cigar

All the reviews I read on this one had me excited a sweet sipping rum, vanilla notes etc what’s not to like. Unfortunately it wasn’t all it was cracked up to be. With some ginger ale and lime it was quite delicious but quite strong alcohol taste stopped it from being a good supper for me.

I don't like sweet things in general, but I really like this rum. Sweet, but not disturbingly so. Maybe I wouldn't prefer to drink it every day, but some days it just feels right. It would not be preferable to drink more than two glasses in a row, but 1-2 are very enjoyable. A great combination of flavors. There is more alcohol in the smell than in the taste. Many say that it is not rum, but it tastes good. My favorite so far in the price range of 30-40.

Expected not to like this at all. Surprisingly not that sweet, and much less sweet than it's big brother.
Touch of liquorice and some burnt sugar but otherwise well integrated flavours with a surprising bit of burn.
Personally, for the money, I'd rather drink Black Tot or R L Seale, but actually I'd quite happily drink this too.
