Diplomatico Ambassador Selection is a limited edition rum crafted from 100% still pot rums and aged for a minimum of 12 years. Like its counterparts, the rum originates from Venezuela and is aged in ex-bourbon casks. The rum has a high strength and does not contain any sweeteners, caramel or other additives which means it does not require chill filtration.

Could even say extremely nice aroma of mostly fruit. The taste is well balanced with mostly dried fruit and vanilla. It’s not so sweet as the well known Reserva Exclusiva, which is good.
As a summary I don’t think it’s living up to the quite high price but it’s still a must have on my Spanish shelf.

Ne vaut pas le prix annoncé.
La différence d'appréciation entre celui-ci et le D. Reserva Exclusiva ou le D. Single Vintage 200 ne vaut pas la différence de prix !

It got style and Class good balance between sweet and oak

Given the price I expected something smoother. An ice cube definitely helps open it up and decrease its bite. Don't think I'd buy it again.

This is a great rum. But I think there is better and cheaper rums. The Diplomatico Single Vintage 2000 for example.

It was... a bit much. Very complex and dark, a bit too much alcohol. Big fan of Diplomatico, but prefer the Single Vintage.

I had expected more from a rum in this price range. Not much bite. Taste is very round though, silky smooth and sweet.
Really nice rich nose, candied walnuts and a port like finish. Taste is so complex, oaky that changes from from to back that really grows in power. Slightly fruity. Finish is nice and long with a little kick. There is a tart tang that holds it back from being a 10 for me, and maybe just a little too strong for me to enjoy multiple glasses - probably a little too much aging for my taste. But still a top complex rum that aficionados will certainly appreciate.

The concept is really nice.. Great box, nice bottle, one of the meanest corks i have ever seen..
The color is awesome.. The scent is descent.. A little bit too much coffe and even alcohol.. The taste is too much of alcohol. But it´s a dark and complex taste.. The finish is whats kills it for me.. A clear taste of pure alcohol which fades out and leaves me what should have been there.. A dark complex finish.. Maybe i will try it with ice in the summer.. But for those money i shouldn´t have to manipulate it at all..

Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

This rum is expensive... Of Course! But it stays also very different from it's little brothers from the same brand. Less sweeter and dryer... I like it of course, but prefer the Gran Reserva.
