I like this XO perpetual and XO insolent both very much.
I can not decide which is better.
Once you get past the trashy Dior style packaging there is much enjoyment to be had. Mouthfuls of coffee, honey, caramel and walnuts with a long warm smooth finish. Not too sweet, but just sweet enough. Excellent value for money at €89 that will not disappoint.

I got this along with Insolent as a pair of mini 5cl bottles and i found both to be quite enjoyable. Perpetual, for me, is nothing ground breaking but it has a nice smooth sweetness and feels quite good to drink with a slight burn. However, out of the 2, Insolent is far more unique and interesting. Still a good drop of rum.

Very delicate, smooth and extremely easy drinkable. In nose surprising notes of walnuts, plums and caramel. Great sipping rum.
Very nice rum. Like the complexity here, gets me out of my comfort zone.
I have held off for more than a year in buying this expensive rum ($96 US) because most of the reviews favored their XO Insolent to this one. I agree and I won't add any more to what has already been said. The best buy from Dictador is their 20 year solera and I keep several bottles of that one on hand because it is so hard to find where I live. This one is even harder to find.
A few days later, I compared it side by side with my Dictador 12. This one is much darker and much better in taste. Then I compared this one to my Dictador 20. Same colors, but very subtle differences in taste. Overall, I would say that this one is not worth the 50% markup over the Dictador 20. It is still a very good rum, but not worth the high price. Stick with Dictador 20 for best value!

Apparently this rum is aged in bourbon barrels. Slightly more mellow on the nose than the 20 Yr, but VERY similar scent profile. Almost indistinguishable. Still has lots of apples/pears, and alcohol on the nose. The taste is by far the best of the three Dictator rums I've tried. The bourbon aging seems to mellow it out, has added a lot of complexity, and is very rich. Had this side by side with ED21, and although they are completely different, this is right there in the same class. However, looking at internet prices, this bottle typically costs between $100-$120. In that case, I'd probably choose the ED21 or a couple bottles of Diplomatico Exclusiva. 92+?
