Smooth taste and smell. Hints of vanilla Coffee and honey.
First impression is that you have buy a high quality rum. Provided with a very beaytiful packaging, you are not dissappointed when you open the bottle. Once served in your glass, you can admire the dark brown color of this devine liquid. In the mouth, you will find a taste of coffee with a little bit of toffee. The aftertaste is quite long. This rum is well balanced. Really a good one. The next one to taste will be his little Insolent brother ... Yummy !!!
Back to solera rum for these both Dictador rum from Columbia. Time for Perpetual : Same beautiful dark color. The coffee, vanilla, honey, caramel and chocolate are present. This one is drier with a more robust body. The finish is also long. Dictador made two different rum with one dry , and the insolent more softer. This one should be better for rum connoisseur. To be also into your collection.
I really like the taste and smell of this rum!
Honey, coffee, toffee, oak, and even some bourbon.
But the aftertaste is harsh, just like it is with the Dictador 20 year, and this takes away from the overall goodness. I'm not sure if I'm the only one that feels the harsh aftertaste (I'm not reading about it in other people's reviews), but to me this makes it a less than exceptional rum. I prefer the Dictador XO Insolent to this, as it is sweeter and more rum like.
Trochu více kořeněný a hlavně hodně ořechový. Měl jsem možnost ochutnat a musím říct, že něco podobného jsem zatím ještě nepil. Nicméně lahodný, sic těžší rum.
N- Toasted spices, herbs with molasses mix, nose warming and well mellow nature on letting the quite lovely aroma to whiff thru effortlessly. Catch the warm brownie, sticky sponge cake with maple syrup. A fine breakfast rum that breath well in the glass with broader spices, herb, chocolate and muskiness developed. (86/20)
P- Good indeed, sour fruit with right dose of caramel sweetness for suffices mouthfeel, well sphere with mellow spices with candle wax at the tail. Rounded. (87/21)
F- Medium-long, relatively low on strength at basic 40% but finely warm. Drift of pencil shavings along mannered oak present at this stage, with depth and body to justified as a premium releases. (88/22)
B/B- 88/22, Still a solera, so probably some youngster in the vat, but well crafted.

Apparently this rum is aged in bourbon barrels. Slightly more mellow on the nose than the 20 Yr, but VERY similar scent profile. Almost indistinguishable. Still has lots of apples/pears, and alcohol on the nose. The taste is by far the best of the three Dictator rums I've tried. The bourbon aging seems to mellow it out, has added a lot of complexity, and is very rich. Had this side by side with ED21, and although they are completely different, this is right there in the same class. However, looking at internet prices, this bottle typically costs between $100-$120. In that case, I'd probably choose the ED21 or a couple bottles of Diplomatico Exclusiva. 92+?
This rum has some very unusal qualities - sio much so that I reckon a lot of regular rum drinkers could easily pick this out in a blind taste test - perhaps even in a smell test.
On the nose - oak, tobacco, vague hint of roasted fruit
On the tongue - coffee and bitter walnut, a little dark chocolate, leather, oak and tobacco, dried fruit in the background and a little molasses.
After-taste - quite harsh on the tongue with a strong burn. Plenty going on but I did not enjoy the after-taste as much as the smell or the taste and so for me it loses marks there.
For those who've not tried it, it's perhaps a little like La Hechicera, but not smooth as that and stronger in the aftertaste. Also it doesn't quite have the sweet background taste of that rum.
It's expensive and I'd honestly prefer quite a few other rums at half the price.
Približne to, čo som očakával. Chuť karamelu, vanilky a čokolády.
Not sweet what's good. Coffee taste. But flat taste in mouth. It doesn't offend but also it is not the best rum. Still very good.
Rich brown color and a sweet aroma of coffee and caramel. The first sip is very enjoyable, with a bit of sweetness with coffee and toffee that leads to a long finish with hints of anise and dark chocolate that brings you back for more.
Good rum with taste of licorice, coffe, vanilla . Little sweeter and alcohol good level.
Absolutelly a good choice. A very different rum, it's a masterpiece.
Mineral nose with walnut and light caramel aromas. Very similar in the mouth which makes out for a great original sipper. Notes of coffee, walnut, slightly burnt caramel and even some dry fruits on the finish. Maybe not worth the price compared to whats availble on the market but an interesting sip.
First off you're gonna shell out $100.00 for this stuff. The Nose is spectacular with coffee, chocolate, caramel maple and a hint of vanilla and fruits. This waz my favorite thing with this rum. The mouth was a bit disappointing, smooth but not a home run for the price. Nor a hint of sweetness. The finish waz a bit lacking and did fall short as I would have expected more bang for the buck. Good yes, flavorful yes, fantastic no.
Dictador XO Perpetual
Notation Personnel : 8/10 .
Great rum. Quite complex taste with coffee, vanilla. Definitelly worth trying.
Had high hopes for this one as it seems to be highly rated by everyone. It's pretty good stuff but for this amount of coin I prefer the Ron Abuelo Centuria which might be the best rum I've tasted yet.
Title says it all very oaky very dry
Not so sweet smooth rum
Not a bottle I’ll be buying but if you are looking for a dry rum this Dictador XO perpetual will be for you
Really can’t go wrong with any of the Dictador rums
No added sugar in any of their rums
you would find this one a very good rum by itself.
but if you compare with it's sister products, especially lower priced ones, you may ask yourself why pay more for this when you can get similar high quality at lower prices.
tasty, sufficiently smooth, definitely well blended liquid.
Osobně mi více vyhovuje chuť Dictadoru 20y. Rum je ostřejší než jsem čekal a nemá tak zajímavou chuť jako modrý.
