I got a 5cl mini bottle of this, along with Perpetual and out of the 2, i slightly prefer this one. First off, this is one of the nicest smelling rums i have laid my nose on! This is odd for me to say, but the smell is very similar to an aftershave by Carner Barcelona called El Born! Very nice indeed. The taste is very unique too, giving a nice warm honey vibe although i found the finish to be quite short. I feel bad rating this as a 7 because in reality, i would give it a 7.5 but i have my own rating system and would like to stick to it rather than dishing out 8's and 9's when i know there are rums out there that just give me that little extra. Overall, this is a nice rum worth trying, i just seem to favor rums that have that gorgeous finish like with Doorly's 12 & 14, Appleton 12 & joy.
Delightful finish, yet mildly overrated(priced). At almost twice the price of a Plantation XO
Much better and smoother than his 12y brother. This is really awesome rum with right amount of sweethness. Aroma of coffee and nuts. In mouth continue flavours of coffee, dark chocolate, nuts, vanilla and oak. Absolutely great.
That is really the one I love. Full body, long after taste, perfect rich aroma...
This is a really, really nice quality rum, only down side for me was a bit too much coffee back note, otherwise this would have been a 9/10. Its dark rich and a lovely smooth sipper, nothing is over the top, all balanced from the flavour profiles to the smooth alcohol burn to the long taste finish. Like i said it would have been a 9/10 but for me it had a bit too much coffee back note, however I'd buy it again and may well review my score again.
Plain and simple if you like Colombian rum. This is sn absolute must have! Amazing
This rum is not the one for me. Highly recommended by lots but could not appreciate the smell. To much karamel, almost butterscotch. Taste was okΓ© but there are better ones for less...As far as im concerned.
This rum is very smooth, sweet and overall fantastic.
One of my top, very dark in coulor, every sip brings a different note, vanilla, toffee and chocolat but very light. A little more sweet than the perpetual
I strongly recommend
Waited a long time and read a lot of very good ratings on this piece of liquid gold and it was worth it.
Silk on the tongue, strong on the taste which stays with you even after it is well down your stomach and ZERO burn... WOW
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

I had this rum as well as the Dictador Perpetual on my wish list ever since I got a bottle of their 20-year rum at Dorignac's in New Orleans. I found this bottle (and a Perpetual) at Total Wine and More in Jacksonville, FL. I am so glad I got it.
Let's get started...
First off, the color of the rum is a gorgeous mahogany..deep and rich.
Excellent legs and a most wonderful aroma in my snifter.
Then the flavor...
Out-freakin'-standing!!!
Honesty, no rum in my history of sampling tastes quite like this. I've seen the testing results and this is not a sugared rum but on the outset there is a wonderful subtle sweetness along with the closest-to-perfect vanilla/toffee flavor I have ever tasted. Further sippings give me a little cinnamon/sugar buttery toast flavor. This comes as close to a 10 as I will consider.
Burn? Not even a major warmth. This rum envelopes you in a cozy blanket in the throat. No burn. The finish is a tad dry with the vanilla/toffee flavor even more predominate but not overwhelming.
Whomever is the rum-master behind this specific rum deserves major kudos. I would love to shake his or her hand. AWESOME!!!
Mixing rum? Perish the thought!!!
This is a sipping rum through and through. Nothing else.
Next time I'm in Jacksonville, I am getting at least one more bottle to have on-hand.
If you come across a bottle of this, get it. It's worth every penny of the $100 USD. This is one of the best rums I have ever tasted.
I think I have found my new favorite rum.
Okay...for those of you asking why I didn't give it a 10, let me explain once again...
Personally speaking I cannot give any rum a 10 because I do not believe a perfect rum exists. The late great Vince Lombardi once said, "Gentlemen, we are going to relentlessly chase perfection, knowing full well we will not catch it, because nothing is perfect. But we are going to relentlessly chase it, because in the process we will catch excellence. I am not remotely interested in just being good."
And this rum embodies what Coach Lombardi meant.
