Dictador XO Insolent

From the firt taste you can feel a lot of chocolate and sweet tones. You will not believe, that there is no added sugar...
Other (fruity) tones are showing up in finish. Not bad, but I'm not friend of chocolate, therefore 1point down.

Its a very good rum but very similar to D20y that cost the half. I tasted these rums side by side. It is bit more sweet than 20y, but still Coffee, caramel, vanilla. Good choice

Powerful but complex aromas, on the nose. Smooth sipping rum that is frankly, amazing. It has good burn that’s offset by the smoothness of the flavors and the aftertaste lingers warmly and pleasantly.

The most prominent flavor is butterscotch. It’s got caramel notes and it took me a bit to place the flavor of butterscotch since I wasn’t expecting it, but it’s super tasty.

Less sweet than Diplomatico Ambassador but with more pronounced flavors. This is my new favorite, although, it doesn’t diminish the other rums in my collection.

Firme, balanceado y elegante, tiene notas intrigantes de intensidad que sorprenden y deleitan. Miel dulce y especias con carácter se envuelven en un cálido toque ahumado. Cítricos, frutas tropicales maduras y caramelo entre notas de tabaco y pasas. El largo, suave y relajante final es complejo y fascinante - un sinnúmero de influencias que terminan con notas sutiles de turba.

A powerfull aroma unfolds in your nose, with notes of honney, liqourice, coffee and a hint of citrus. The palette is big bodied with a dark profile of liqourice, barrel, tobaco, roasted coffee and honney. The taste fades into a dark, semidry liqourice aftertaste and leave your mouth coated with an oily feeling. It's not bad at all, but considering the price, and the almost equally enjoyable and very cheap dictador 12, i find this to be slightly overpriced.

Coffee beans, licorice, chocolate, caramel, vanilla smoky...... Total mouthfuck, best enjoyed with a cigar.... Thinking Montecristo or Cohiba robusto

better then the Perpetual but similar flavors and undertones

Mild and sweet like fruitcake, but not overly sweet or syrupy. Taste lingers in your mouth nicely.

So to be fair I have a bias towards caramel-esque rums rather than rums that have more of a whiskey profile. I truly love the Dictator 20 year offering but this is something special.

From the first whiff you pick up the toffee, butterscotch and vanilla. The first sip doesn't disappoint. No burn whatsoever. Pure flavor. It isn't super sweet like liquid candy but rather very smooth with the all the aromas coming through on the palette.

If you don't like caramel or toffee, save your money and go for something different. However, if you gravitate towards the sweeter side Insolent XO will not disappoint.

This is a really, really nice quality rum, only down side for me was a bit too much coffee back note, otherwise this would have been a 9/10. Its dark rich and a lovely smooth sipper, nothing is over the top, all balanced from the flavour profiles to the smooth alcohol burn to the long taste finish. Like i said it would have been a 9/10 but for me it had a bit too much coffee back note, however I'd buy it again and may well review my score again.
