Love this Rum, smooth, butterscotch, sweet, full flavor, long finish... enjoy!
Very light molasses flavor with a small bit of burn on the back.
I was surprised by this rum, as it is different with nuts and coffee, minimum sweet but bitter. Alcohol is very very smooth and incorporated what I liked most. Elegant conclusion.
I started drinking rum instead of whiskey because of this rum, really good and well balanced between flavours and sweetness
The appearance in the glass is the standard caramel brown color, certainly not something one would expect after long aging (although 20 years + solera system = literally whatever in a practical sense).
The nose is warm, soft, sweet, inviting, fruity, some fresh dough, and a hint of a savory note resembling bacon.
The taste is strangely sweet, and since I am informed that there is no added sugar in this rum, it must be something else - fruit extract, perhaps? Notes of ripe apricots, ginger, marmelade, tamed by really meek oak presence. The mouthfeel is oily, full, almost syrupy, the finish is medium-length and pleasantly warm.
This is certainly a pleasant sipping rum, however that syrupy, fruity, sweet note does not seem quite natural.
Wonderful flavours. This rum is very smooth, warm and has a nice balanced Carmel flavour (not too sweet). This rum is perfect by itself and leaves you wanting another.
This 'was' a great bottle. I really have enjoyed the 12 year, despite its initial chemically smell and taste, just have to let it breathe for a while, better with time. This however was excellent from the bottle, a rich, not overly sweet advancement on the 12. For a little more, you are getting a seriously premium tasting rum.
Dictador bliver nok aldrig én af mine favoritter. Syntes 20 års virker noget tynd, i forhold til alder.
I absolutely love this one, and I get why it doesn't get a higher rating. It has a very strong, explicit smell and taste to it which many probably won't appreciate. That is the coffee aroma... I get it, but I'm also a big fan of coffee so this guy is a favorite of mine
Maybe there’s not that much going on here, but it’s very smooth and very easy to drink. Really enjoyed it.
There is a hint of tobacco and a touch of tar. Overall though its mostly sweet.
"It has a reasonable amount of alcohol burn to reassure you it is a 40% spirit. It’s more like a kind of sherried flavoured vodka. I’m sure such a drink exists somewhere."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

The Dictadors have changed. The new bottle (no solera) is different to my old impressions. It's more on the cocoa side, a completely different rum.
The old version has a lot of fermented fruits like Nine Leaves 2.
Now all Dictadors are more similar to each other than the old bottlings.
This rum has a recognition value (it's pot still + column still blend). It needs 30min in the glas until it opens the aromas.
The flavor profile is honey with cocoa and spices like pepper and nutmeg. It's not sweetened.
Unusual combination, that's why it has a unique taste.
The smell is a combination of vanilla, cocoa, spices and some wood. I can not clearly separate all flavors, but I enjoy this composition.
The taste starts with a little bit cocoa, then slightly a woody note (or call it paper) shows up followed by some vanilla. It's not watery but I noticed the dilution, it's thiner of course. I would prefer 45% I think. Then I got also some dry fruits and different spices like pepper and nutmeg. They are not very dominant, you get only some hints of them.
A good rum, not very complex but unique. Would rate it with 75 points.
