Dictador Solera Distillery Icon Reserve 20-Year

I absolutely love this one, and I get why it doesn't get a higher rating. It has a very strong, explicit smell and taste to it which many probably won't appreciate. That is the coffee aroma... I get it, but I'm also a big fan of coffee so this guy is a favorite of mine

Maybe there’s not that much going on here, but it’s very smooth and very easy to drink. Really enjoyed it.

This an epic Colombian rum, a well kept secret: it's smooth and have some notes of vanilla and caramel... it's also a good purchase: 40 us a bottle.. try it.

This rum kinda grew on me. At first I wasn't sold at all. Nowadays it's a safe option for sipping.

Treba pochváliť vizuálnu stránku celého balenia rumu. Originálna krabica z tvrdého kartónu, moderná fľaša je síce stále tá istá, ale ako celok pôsobí veľmi pekne. Rum má tmavšiu, svetlohnedú farbu. Je to zmes rôzne starých rumov v systéme solera s priemerným vekom 20 rokov, zrejúca v dubových sudoch. V nose cítiť silnú dubovú arómu v sprievode s karamelom, sladkou vanilkou, škoricou. Vôňa sa v pohári postupne uvoľňuje, treba mu dopriať chvíľku postáť. Veľmi pekná, komplexná a vyvážená aróma. Rum je jemne sladký, v stupnici od 1-10 by som dal 6. Na jazyku cítiť karamel, hrozienka, kakao...v pozadí vystupuje dubová aróma. Celkovo je veľmi hladký, guľatý so stredne krátkou dochuťou. Veľmi príjemné pitie. Otvorene musím priznať, že som čakal od tohto rumu menej, nakoľko jeho mladší 12-ročný brat je podľa môjho názoru bieda.

I think this is currently a better exponent of the Solera method than the Ron Zacapa. I know, blasphemous! This doesn't feel that it has been adulterated with added sugar post distillation. Despite being quite old this isn't heavy on oak flavours, caramel and vanilla are more prominent. As is the case with a lot of solera and spanish style rums this is a lot lighter than the english style. But that doesn't mean it lacks complexity, in fact one of the great things about this is that it's extremely smooth and complex and there's enough to keep you interested each time you try it.

I tried this one couple of days ago and next day went to the same bar to have another two glasses... it is really great, one of the best I have had so far... very complex, sweeter side of spectrum yet very balanced, the smell is very gentle, disappears quickly but it is soooo nice I could inhale it for hours... the taste has some coffee and dark chocolate in it, the aftertaste is very mild and nice, it is a must to try this one! I would love a recommendation for a similar ones in its price range

Klart bedre en lillebror 12års. Mere komplet og bedre balance. Dog mangler den lidt mere power.
