Along my career as a rum reviewer, I 've found that all the rums produced by Oliver & Oliver turn out to be exquisite.
I really like his 18y brother so expectation was high. On the nose you can recognize typical Oliver aroma but is more woody than usually. Rum is nicely smooth and not that sweet with flavours of caramel, vanilla, plum and mainly oak. This one has bigger body and longer ending than his 18y brother. Really great.
The scent is quiet but complex, which is age appropriate. The taste is mysterious, sweet, unusually tart. You don't need a water. No regrets in the morning. Price isn't high - I'll surely buy another bottle.
By far one of the most great rum I have ever drink ,
Amber color , fist flavour to the nose is sweet , after you could discover vanilla, caramel, fruit like orange, cherry and oak.All balanced almost perfect !
Density in glass correct, heavy mark in the glass after stir .
In the mouth is soave, very soft start with light sweet but immediately the oak and the fruit explode one next to the other, but when you swallow ....in that moment the orgasm is coming !
Price vs quality one of the best ever
Spanish sweet with taste of toffee.
New slogan. Kiss me beautiful
very smooth and mellow and one of my favorites in my list
very good Rum bought it for $30
Very good and fine solera from the Dominican Republic (Oliver&Oliver distillery). The oldest component of the rum has been aged for up to 21 years in bourbon and French wine barrels. Bottled at 38% ABV.
Bottle: Tall, square with a thick bottom, which is closed with a cork stopper. My bottle was number 15 of 1000 (year 2018).
Colour: Dark amber slightly to ruby. There was a sediment in the rum from the cask, which I rate as a positive.
Nose: Soft vanilla-caramel. There are also raisins, red fruits (plums and cherries) and a slight woodiness.
Taste: Very mild. Again, vanilla, caramel and raisins. There is also milk chocolate, a little tobacco and oak.
Finish: Medium-long.
Summary: Due to its lower alcohol strength, the rum is very smooth and therefore suitable for rum beginners. It was also tasty for ladies who are not used to drinking stronger spirits. For the selling price, this is an excellent rum that tastes quite premium.
