Thanks so much for submitting a report. It has been emailed to the Rum Captain and will be actioned shortly.
Smooth body and finish for the price would definently buy again .. good for mixing too .
Really like Cruzan 9, especially for the price. I was looking forward to trying a new Cruzan rum that I can sip on the rocks. Good aged rum for the price. Please note that this not a superior aged rum, but is good for those who like rum (on the rocks) while on a budget. As importantly, Cruzan 9 is not currently available in PA (11/2016).
I saw it on the shelf for $12. Have mixed it with tonic. I experimented with a few other concoctions including grape juice, bitters, lemon. It make a nice rum and tonic. Drop in a bit of bitters for a nice cocktail. Not one to sip neat, but a terrific value.
This rum has been quite tasty in mixed cocktails or the simple Rum and Coke. It balances quite well with these. However I do not like this one as a sipping rum be it neat or on the rocks. It is quite inexpensive as for my area its less than $17 for a 750ml bottle.
I was pleasantly suprised by this rum.
Low sweet level, good vanilla taste and caramel. I have the feeling they perfectly know how to deal with their alcohol level for this kind of rum.
I like the Cruzan family of rums. I keep a 1.75 of this one for company because everyone seems to enjoy it in a mixer.
I like the Caribbean influences of this rum, as a mixer and over ice. I prefer it with tonic and lime, I am not into the cola thing. Once in a while I'll do a island style punch with sweet, sour and all important bitters which brings out the island essence. If you add just a touch of Black Strap (a few drops) it approaches an Anniversario's richness.
Excellent rum with coke or another mix, a bit harsh to drink straight or on the rocks
A good rum for mixing. Not alot of flavors upfront, but still good. Price wise, cheaper than Mount Gay or Appleton reserve so its a really good value. Great for parties and open bars.
Great product for the price. A good value, much better than Bacardi (except for their Anejo). A 1.75 here is regularly available for $18.49, hard to beat that for mixing.
Excellent for Rum and Diet Cokes or any other easy mixer. Great Rum for the price. I prefer it to Bacardi.
Revised after trying more rums: Not a sipper but among my favorite mixers becuase it's flavorful and versatile for a reasonable price. Great in a rum Collins, with cola, fruit flavored sparking water (lemon/lime is best) or added to egg nog. My favorite is with tonic and a lime wedge.
this is a nice rum low cost great in mixes good for summer party's.
This isn't really the greatest for aged rums but it works in a pinch. Kind of like the Budweiser of Beers it is very common and overhyped. On the rocks with a splash of coke and limes it makes a decent Cuba Libre. Give this to your friends on the rocks if you dare.
I was looking for more aromatics in the nose, the mouth feel was flat and a little too alcohol forward for my taste. It had a fair taste but a short finish. Feels it might be good for a mixing drink. The bottle says aged rum but give no age information, which means it’s hardly aged at all.
Cruzan Gold is a very decent rum, not a great rum but still very drinkable.
It's a nice sipper and mixes well. The price is great for a solid rum.
Inoffensive, nice dry rum. A little taste of oak. Just bought a bottle at Walgreens, this stuff is better than all the Bacardi crap which fills their shelves.
Nice rum at a great price Cruzan makes good rums at great prices great as mixer works with just about anything.
I forgot all about this one since it reminded me of leaner rum drinking times some thirty years ago. I poured an ounce into a snifter and it did not even need time to breathe. Unbelievably smooth for a 2 year old rum, with no harsh burn to boot. At only $11 per bottle, this one is a bargain to keep on hand to avoid dipping into the expensive part of one's rum collection. It is not complex enough to be enjoyed neat, but if one happens to be broke, this will do the trick. It is light years better than anything by Bacardi or Captain Morgan. Going back full circle to what was my original favorite has shown how much I have come a long way with my tastes. Many others are better, but not at this price.
Update: This is neither offensive or memorable in taste. However, the true test is if one consumes too much of it, then there will be no ill after effects the next day, which is always credited to no added sugar. I don't know of many other budget rums that can have these claims. If you need to tie one on and want more flavor than Don Q Cristal, this is the one for you. This is also one of the three budget rums that can be enjoyed on the rocks. The other two are Cockspur 5 Star and Don Q Anejo. By the way, my Q-PR value (Quality Price Ratio) for this rum is head and shoulders above the other 210 rums that I have rated thus far, especially if you buy the 1.75 liter bottle that comes in at only $7 US per fifth.
One bar in Florida keeps this on hand for me because they know that I refuse to drink Bacardi or Captain Morgan. Always ask for this gold mixer at each bar, and if they don't carry it, walk out and go to the next bar!!!!
This lightly aged rum has a decent amber colour accompanied by hints of smoke and sweet smells. Straight up it's harsh and lacks flavour other than a little sweetness, however it makes a decent rum/cola. For the price, its one of the best mixing rums on the market and belongs in everyone's bar.
Not sure why to choose the white over this rum at the same price. Much better for classic mixing drinks. Holds up slightly higher in sipping also.
fruity rum, enjoyed it with guavaberry juice outdoors during summertime in USVIs.
Difficult to have just one as it blends in with calypso snd tripicak setting very well
