Angostura 1919 8-Year rum

Angostura 1919 8-Year

Trinidad and Tobago | Aged | 40% ABV

Angostura 1919 rum is produced in Trinidad by blending a combination of light and heavy molasses distilled rums. These rums spend at least 8 years aging in American oak bourbon barrels.

The name Angostura "1919" refers to the event in 1932 when Angostura's distillery was destroyed by fire. Miraculously, a handful of barrels filled with rum from 1919 survived and were purchased by J.B. Fernandes - the master blender of Fernandes Distillers.

I don't know what was the intention making this rum... alcoholic taste, bad afterburn, smells terrible... It is only drinkable with coke and a lot of ice, but seriously, for this amount of money just buy something else.

Lite torr, mycket vanilj, kryddig, salnar lite fyllighet.

One of the first rums I tasted and it’s still pleasing me. Today I think there is too much taste of arrack. If I want arrack I buy arrack. I will taste together with pea soup and see how it feels. Anyway it’s nice to have it in the rombar together with the other Angosturas when it’s in the old bottle.

My first Trini rum and it was really a pleasure. The caramel and nut fragrance was really nice. Not to sweet , but very good with a cube of ice. Nice, affordable rum

Bought the new bottle in a very nice box. The new bottle was fancy. Dissapointed that it not had a cork to seal it with though. This is an okey rum. Smooth oak aroma with vanilla, exotic fruits and citrus. The taste have a little sharpness to it like a blended scotch whiskey with vanilla and citrus as it's maine flavours. The price is a little high on it. I drank it as a sipper.

Tried at Cane Rhum Bar in Charlotte SC (awesome people) - I like the finish of the 1919 better than the 1824. Really nice finish!

Nice golden color. Some initial harshness in the nose, that dissipates with some breathing. Fruity wood sents.
Véry smooth in the mouth, nice round bitterness of oak with fruit flavours and a hint of vanilla. Has a little kick when swallowing and a distant but nice aftertaste.

Good rum for the money, lots of vanilla and fruit scent. Nice caramel, vanilla and light wood taste. Not overly sweet, but decently balanced.
