Trinidad and Tobago | Aged | 40% ABV
Angostura 1919 rum is produced in Trinidad by blending a combination of light and heavy molasses distilled rums. These rums spend at least 8 years aging in American oak bourbon barrels.
The name Angostura "1919" refers to the event in 1932 when Angostura's distillery was destroyed by fire. Miraculously, a handful of barrels filled with rum from 1919 survived and were purchased by J.B. Fernandes - the master blender of Fernandes Distillers.

I was blown away by this one
It s nothing i ve tested before
It s the beat one so far for the money
Nose is the most complex, you can taste it s young age but it s spectacular and i would recomand to anyone
this is a sweet strong tasting rum with caramel and vanilla aftertaste, nice as a sipper but also with coke and ice.
Mild spicy scent sweet heavy vanilla and caramel flavor mildly fruity
Doux, vanillé, plaisant et très légèrement sucré, il laisse transparaître une légère amertume. En arrière plan on peut ressentir un goût discrètement salé, iodé, comme un whisky Islay
Attention les glaçons font ressortir l'amertume de ce rhum
Soft and slightly sweet, vanilla, it leaves reflected a slight bitterness. In the background one can feel a discreet salty taste, iodized like a whiskey Islay
Caution ice emphasize the bitterness of this rum
hummmmmmmmmmmm la vanille
Equilibré, doux, vanille au nez, vanille en bouche ! ;)
Su sabor es único, se agradece su personalidad. Es un ron que se tiene que probar!
I really enjoyed this rum. Too my nose I smell vanilla and cocoa. It has a good taste for sipping and mixing with coke zero. It was in a bit higher price range than my usual Chairmans Reserve , but it wasnt crazy expensive. Gonna find the 1824 next and see how it compares. Overall a good rum that I will be drinking regularly
N- Not often rum improve with breathing, but this one an exceptional. Initially with white fruit and condensed milk + black tea, very local 'teh-xi'. Watery, mineral in the middle and molasses syrup at tail, masked with sugar on each sniff. Then ice cream soda, root beer with charred peels emerged, capped with delicious vanilla ice cream and balanced subtle wood and solvent floral notes. (87/21)
P- Sweet and subdue initially, then get whiff of medicinal along fresh pine and antiseptic nuance, sounds like detergent I know, but don't taste like it, so no worry. Semi dry, peppery and waxy, the medicinal part works well with the creamy coat. (87/21)
F- Medium, vanilla fudge, plenty of tart fruits linger, broad with good depth. (86/20)
Body/Balance:- Ordinary at the beginning, but body builds up overtimes make every subsequent sips taste better then the earlier. (87/21)
Weighted Rate:- 83pt

"by Mike at Ultimate Rum Guide"
There is a little “oak and smoke” and a very small scent of fruit.
"The rum is very smooth with notes of oak, cocoa and vanilla. Perhaps a little banana but very subtle."

I have been a rum drinker my whole adult life, and now that I have past the 70 mark I seem to have mellowed. This may not be the best I have ever tasted, but it has that calm, fruity, hint-of-honey character that makes it perfect for sipping while stretching your legs in an easy chair in the tropical evening breeze.
