Trinidad and Tobago | Aged | 40% ABV
Angostura 1919 rum is produced in Trinidad by blending a combination of light and heavy molasses distilled rums. These rums spend at least 8 years aging in American oak bourbon barrels.
The name Angostura "1919" refers to the event in 1932 when Angostura's distillery was destroyed by fire. Miraculously, a handful of barrels filled with rum from 1919 survived and were purchased by J.B. Fernandes - the master blender of Fernandes Distillers.

I really enjoyed this rum. Too my nose I smell vanilla and cocoa. It has a good taste for sipping and mixing with coke zero. It was in a bit higher price range than my usual Chairmans Reserve , but it wasnt crazy expensive. Gonna find the 1824 next and see how it compares. Overall a good rum that I will be drinking regularly
I have been a rum drinker my whole adult life, and now that I have past the 70 mark I seem to have mellowed. This may not be the best I have ever tasted, but it has that calm, fruity, hint-of-honey character that makes it perfect for sipping while stretching your legs in an easy chair in the tropical evening breeze.
Smooth enough to enjoy on the rocks and a great accompliment to your favourite mixer. Beautiful aroma of vanilla drags you in.

Angostura 1919 rum review
"by Mike at Ultimate Rum Guide"
There is a little “oak and smoke” and a very small scent of fruit.
"The rum is very smooth with notes of oak, cocoa and vanilla. Perhaps a little banana but very subtle."

The first time I tried this one, I taught I had found « my rum ». Actually, the bottle lasted much longer than expected. I still like it a lot, but I was lucky enough to discover several other aged rums afterwards and, principally, I am not always in the right mood for this type of rum, super smooth with a very strong vanilla taste. Maybe my example just confirms, once more, that Angostura 1919 is a good door to the magic world of the old rums. By the way, this is already a good reason for always having a bottle in my cabinet.
NB: I am not a specialist. It just happens that I like rum.
