Rum tasting in New York City continued with Sag Harbour Old Whalers Style Rum. Very nice and unique bottle and label design. Light golden color. Strong oak mixed with plenty of cardamom, vanilla extract and some spice mixture to your nose and palate when neat sipped. Better mixed than neat sipped.

Lovely aroma with a hint of vanilla
Perfect for making a pina colada with fresh pineapple juice and serving it over ice!

Juicy pear combined with a mild artificial vanilla flavor similar to flavored oatmeal... it then has a weird funky tea flavor in the background. When it all comes together theres a little hint of cola that shines through and this seems like it would make a great vanilla Coke cocktail. It definitely has additives including spices and juices as mentioned on the label. Cardamom is definitely prominent. It's smooth but I'm still getting used to the flavors and will revisit this review. Feels a bit watered down and not that aged.Update: feels like it has coffee in it thats been too watered down

Was given a bottle of batch 11 as a present, brought back to the UK from the US.
This rum definitely grew on me, very nice with ginger ale and also very pleasant with cola. First mouthful did not taste as smooth or as full bodied as I normally drink. Possibly due to the fact it was distilled in old bourbon barrels but by the end of a glass I was giving this rum much approval of this unusual twist. All in all good stuff with pleasing subtle vanilla undertones that are not overpowering on the palette.

Tasted batch 5. Had some flavors I couldn’t quite pin down. You can drink it straight but don’t expect to be wowed.
