Stolen Smoked

this is a rum to appease whiskey officiandos on their first day out of prison. try not to get shanked.

In this era of explosive creativeness for all alcoholic beverages, I'm sure there is room for the development of smoked rums, just like Scotch Whiskey and Mezcal.
I can imagine for a craft distiller, this could be a fantastic and fun project. However, this is not it.

Initial nose was strong toffee and perhaps raisins with a strong camp fire coming in over the top. Flavour was like I imagine licking a stale ashtray. The rum was not astringent, had no burn but the nasty taste was overpowering. I was the third "owner" of this bottle, owner two passed it across with a knowing grin

I was in my local specs, and was offered this rum. I am not a big liquor drinker, and prefer beer. But i loved this particular smoked taste and bought a bottle... I have not regretted it... I might have a favorite here...

Gave this a try recently and was a bit put off by the very strong smoke flavour that overwhelms all others and just doesnt sit well with what a Rum should taste like. Chemical aftertaste and a lasting smokey flavour that you just cant forget. Never again

Tasted at Laka Lono on 10/3/18. Chemical smoke aroma. Caramel extracts. Just too artificial in every way. Professional bartenders are doing so much with smoke now, I'm not sure what the point of this product is.

VERY HEAVY SMOKE FLAVOR - if you like feeling like someone smoked a whole pack of cigarettes and breathed it into an ok at best bottle of rum. Then this concoction is for you.

We bought this rum because it was rated no 1 in N.S. Unfortunately, it’s not worth the $60 that it’s being sold for! In fact unless you are fuelling the lawnmower don’t buy it.

I am an avid rum drinker. While I would like to capture any of the other flavors of this rum, the "smokey flavor" punches you in the face. It's not that the smoke flavor came from resting in whiskey barrels". They flat out poured Liquid Smoke into the batch. It is a dead ringer for a poorly veiled smoke substitute. I would avoid this at all costs .

I was given a bottle of this & I'm very please that I didn't waste any of my money on this rubbish. The liquid smoke is so overpowering.
