Not really a bigger hitter for those that don't like nutty flavours, it does hit strongly with raisin and nutmeg though. Its Β£90 retail price does seem high for what could be a specific audience. Between the two of us, one who can enjoy nuts thought it ranked well, maybe 7; for the one that didn't marked it as a 4.

Rating: 6/10

Smell - nutty, raisins, vanilla
Taste - nutmeg, raisins
After Taste - short/medium in length, watered down raisin flavour

This was the first "top notch" rum that I experienced several years ago. It's what led me to start appreciating rum over other spirits.

expensive and sweetened rare rum, who like sweet rums will sure love this one

Way too sweet and cloying to be any good. Not an authentic rum by any measure, but a manufactured, sweet product to appeal to those with a sweet tooth. Disapointing.

Well... Limited edition rum. Didn't know what to expect from limited edition rum. It's quite good, but really won't search for another bottle.

I got to try this at the famous Rum Bar in the beautiful Whitsundays Isles in North Queensland. A 16 year-old rum apparently finished in cognac barrels for the last 6 years.
Definitely a brandy taste to it with raisins , slightly nutty and with pastry notes.. Dry and not too sweet. I enjoyed the Batch 1 last year and this was another nice sipper. I have the 1787 at home which im really looking forward to.

10 years in American oak casks before being transferred over to once-used French oak casks that previously held Cognac for the final 6 years.

N- Shy at first, initially get the cured ham with raisin and various dried nuts, then more power and weights shows up gradually, and the aged rum notes blossomed to fullness at the tail, expecting more French Oak influence but the cognac were not as prominent at this stage. (87/21)

P- French oak comes into play with abundance of fig, raisin and oak nuance, well integrated with touch of phenol, charred wood and sweet cedar note. Good 2nd cask influence. Would be great if the sugary at the tail can be contain. (87/21)

F- Medium-long, more obvious brandy coats with echoing waxy dried fruits, full and subtly spicy. (88/22)

Body/Balance- 87/21

This is not your mommas rum. If you like good deep well balanced rum then this gem is for you. Very nice, perfect sweetness. Great flavors from start to finish.
