Easily consumable in a bind
A rare artisanal rum from Tasmania which I sourced through the Rum Club. It’s a malodorous beast that might appeal to whisky drinkers but which will wrench the neck of most rum drinkers as they recoil in horror. The taste is not much better, reminiscent of sulphurous, peaty bog water. Avoid at all costs...or I have a spare bottle if you’re really game.
Went back to Brix Distillery in Sydney for more rum tastings. Quiet Cannon Rum had a super nice high end bottle and label design. Golden color. Lark Distillery in Tasmania is the island's only Single Malt Whisky distillery and this is their rare Rum bottling. High end oakiness and very mild vanilla to your nose and palate when neat sipped. Traditional high end Whisky ending. Whisky fan boys can easily add 2 points to my score.
This is an artisanal small batch rum. I was given a 250 ml bottle after my son visited Tasmania. I do not know the price, but he informed me that it was the most expensive rum I had ever drank, so it must not be inexpensive. I am not sure if this rum is exported, but I understand that it is difficult to get. I drink my rum on the rocks and this drink is nice and smooth, but it seems to have a different aftertaste than I am used to. It is not a bad drink, but not one of my favorites.
