Trinidad and Tobago | Aged | 40% ABV
Angostura 1824 rum is a blend of rums aged for at least 12 years in oak barrels. The aged rums are blended, re-casked, and upon maturity hand-drawn for bottling.
This rum is named and crafted in honor of Dr. Johann Siegart's founding of Angostura house in the city of Angostura, Venezueala in 1824. Angostura 1824 rum production is now based in Trinidad.

Ve vůni cítím nějaké ovoce, nejspíše citrusy a banán. V chuti nejprve přichází sladkost ovoce, které pomalu přechází do chemické chuti ředidla. Přitom je to velmi lehký dobře pitelný rum. Zatím jsem měl jen vzorek díky české rumové komunitě, ale celou láhev mohu každému doporučit a i u mne časem najde svoje místo.
Ordered this one again. In my mind it was a darker tasting rum with hints of coffee, caramel and hazel.
The reality from the current bottle however is little to no scent. The thickness is nice and smooth in your mouth. But no real stand out tones in the taste and slightly sour aftertaste.
Could be that I am getting a cold which is affecting my taste so I’d try again soon.
I really like my Angosturas just I like Cihuatans (but if any I prefer the latter from Salvador as it seem more "cultivated" and generally rounder taste in spite of more % of alcohol). Though it's really not easy to differ the "neighboring" types from each other, I generally like their typical characteristics - rounded taste, sweet cherry & honey tones and little bittery finish. Overall I've had better but I can't imagine anyone to dislike this rum so combined with cool packing and decent price for younger models makes an ideal present to occassional sippers among the relatives.
UPDATE: though it depends what I am eating or drinking with as I don't like to sip my rums alone, I must raise +1 point as liking it more and more, especially with sweet teas or sweet snacks. This rum is in my opinion getting more and more awesome and I did like it from the first sip, unlike its older brother/cask. That may be eventually updated as well after I buy another one :) as relatively new to rums and still "settling" my taste. Though I am still having hard time to distinguish some top-tier old Angosturas from each other, they are so easily dist. from other brands, simply for being so above average and full of sweet-cherry-fruity tones and awesome finish. (People are freq. mentioning tobacco smell and taste here which I can not judge as practically non smoker.)
Nice flavor. Paired well with a walk on the beach in Grand Case. Well balanced flavor and sweetness.
'mouth-watering flavours of honey, fruit, chocolate'
