Angostura 1824 rum is a blend of rums aged for at least 12 years in oak barrels. The aged rums are blended, re-casked, and upon maturity hand-drawn for bottling.
This rum is named and crafted in honor of Dr. Johann Siegart's founding of Angostura house in the city of Angostura, Venezueala in 1824. Angostura 1824 rum production is now based in Trinidad.
En fin rom med dejlige noter af lakrids, vanilje og andre ting
Sweet and smooth. A little bit too boozy. Not bad.
My first trip to Trinidad and, mostly, Tobago and I should be in rum heaven. I asked the bartender for his best rum recommendation and was handed a glass of 1824. I found it just slightly too thin, slightly too bitter, and slightly too oaky to meet my expectations. It's still a good rum, but just not what I had hyped myself to expeect.
A decent rum, but surely not the best one. It's too exotic and too different from what is called the average taste. It has a lot of burnt wood and too little of sweetness in the taste. It's far from the classical rum taste, therefore I think it will not have a great success. I do not mean it is bad. Not at all. In fact it's very good and me personally I liked it. It's only a kind of DIFFERENT RUM. Not for the average taste. As said it smells and tastes like the burnt wood. I have also discovered a smell that reminds me of tobacco. It contains only 17 mg. of sugar per liter. Not too dry at all, but not very sweet either. A kind of "half-sweet" rum. For me is it actually OK, but many people prefer the sweeter rums. I have also noticed a little of alcohol tones in the smell. Not very disturbing, but this is not very good for a rum of such age and such price. But it's not too sharp and is rather disappearing. In some words - very, very special rum. Doubtlessly worth of tasting. Worth of its price 65 euro? Hmmm, maybe it's a little overpriced. But actually not a bad price for such exotic and rare liquor. But if you ask me if I'll buy another bottle of this rum, I will answer that I am not sure about this. There are a lot of other good rums for this price and below. But it was pleasant and interesting experience to try this one.
Wonderful to sip, but had a sharp hint on the nose.
Not sure what to write on this one its been a few days since i had it. will revise when i try it again.
Thiner body and for myself too sharp alcohol taste
A nice one with a silky smooth aroma. For the cold winter evenings
A great sipping rum with s sophisticated and smooth with mild oakiness and smokey leather notes.
It's a bit darker than I thought it would be, Christmas present that I cracked open last night with my pal Kenny and we were not disappointed, Kenny drank it in two gulps because he had to get home to his Mrs pronto, but he did really like it.
It has a sharper taste than my usual choice of rum, deep oak flavours with a wee kick to it, more than the 1919 that's for sure.
1824 grabs you're attention it is stronger and darker in taste and should be nursed along in order to fully enjoy it's quality (Kenny).
Cards on the table this is a nice rum that is good for a treat, for casual everyday drinking I would prefer the 1919, but I do like this 1824 it's actually tasting better the more I drink think I'll have cheese on toast later.
This rum seems a little harsh but it actually taste very elegant. It has a light refreshing taste and at the same time has an oldish smokey wooded taste.
It is a sipper but is very nice with a touch of Sprite.
Angostura 1824 is a great addition to any rum lover's bar. It has a dark amber color and smooth taste that I don't mind drinking neat or on the rocks.
Every rum to me has a predominant theme, like vanilla, licorice, etc. In this case though it is a mixture of herbs.
The moment you taste it you know there is greatness in this rum. Very smooth and elegant development of taste which stays a long time.
For very special occasions ...
I finally found this rum locally and have been very impressed with it. I have enjoyed the 1919 but this is multiple levels above it
Aromas of oak, butterscotch, and a hint of orange. Spicy caramel flavor, with long, slightly peppery finish. Solid all-around rum, but not my favorite at this particular price point.
Nice drinking rum. One of my favorite angostura rum's
Every Christmas this rum can be found locally in Ontario liquor stores. This is exceptional neat, well worth the price, delicious in an old fashioned or modified manhattan. I prefer neat at room temperature super smooth and the smell has a smoky sweet scent.
Trinidad rums are not my thing but the Angostura series is very enjoyable.
Paid $59.99 +tx in NYC. Very nice color and pleasant aroma. Surprisingly lighter finish than I expected, very smooth and enjoyable.
molasses. half dry rum.
the sweetness is on a low amount. that´s good. a little bit sweeter than his younger brother 1919.
full aroma. light body. oak, oak and oak, did i say oak?
banana. leather. vanilla. maybe some dark fruits.
Definitely a smooth, complex rum good for sipping. Starts with a mild sweetness, finishes with a bit of a dryer burn that I'm not so sure is completely appealing to my palate. Still a solid rum though.
Molto buono, facile da bere, un mix molto complesso ma un po troppo legnoso sul finale
great caribean rum. amber color. rich flavors of vanilla.
