Molasses, oak, honey, bourbon, vanilla, and spice.
I like it!
Something with its taste, especially finish is puling my rating of it down. I am glad that I had only 1 glass of this so I didn't drown my money into botlle...
Final verdict: I will not buy it again
This is matured in American oak bourbon barrels for at least 12 years
when it is blended and re-casked.
Taste of Vanilla, honey , caramel and Bourbon.
Leaves a little bitter taste in the mouth,
so it's just a good rum but nothing more.
Výborný rum s lehkým kávovo-tabáko-karamelovým nádechem. Výrazný propolis a plástve za mně bod ubírají na 7b, ale věřím, že u někoho právě propolis požene tuhle flašku o 2b výš.
Taste 7,4/10. I dont like whisky taste but this one is nice for bourbon style rum with some little sweetnes. It is just ok for sipping if there isnt any other good aged rum. Also it has great aroma and you can feel the aged rum in your drink not fake solera.
This is hands down a great rum, but I wouldn't say it is for everyone. A lot of rum drinkers may like a rum with notes of vanilla or coffee and sweetness...and while you can smell some and taste a hint this is truly a sophisticated smokey/oaky rum. As noted by some others...great with a cigar, and honestly is one of those rums that is kind of like a whisky. It is a great rum. But as I noted, not for everyone
I think it needs some minutes in the glass. In the aroma and taste you can find some vanilla, nuts and dried fruit I think. It’s smooth and the sweetness is quite balanced compared to the 1919. Rate 7,5.
Picture: My Angostura shelf.
Excellent taste with touch of tobacco, leather, vanilla. Delicious sweet ron after a good lunch
Since I liked their 1919 rum, I finally bought a bottle of this to give it a try. I had planned on driving 40 miles to test one ounce at a bar, but those tests only rule out rums that I would never buy. One also cannot adequately judge a rum from just one ounce. I am running out of good cheap rums to buy, so this was a good $58 gamble.
This is a semi-dry rum from Trinidad and has 17 gpl of added sugar. The aroma is of leather. The taste is of fruit and leather. The after taste is the same. It is darker than their 1919 and the flavors are more pronounced. Is it worth another $22 per bottle more than their 1919? That has yet to be seen when the bottle is finally empty a few months down the road. At least it will last for more than 4 months because it has less than 20 gpl of added sugar.
Nice round flavor that Pairs excellent with dark chocolate and Fried fruit. The oak and fruit flavors are good afterparty you rest it for a while.
Purchased a sample from Master of Malt after first sampling the 1919. This 12 year old expression is a definite step up from the 1919.
This rum is full of character the flavour profile is fantastic theres a rich oakiness which is just sublime and it's a smooth one. It's so much better than the 1919 will definitely have to try the 15 year old next!
It is a dark rum with distinct cherry nose, but also develops into light floral whisky on the tongue.
Medium copper colour; aromas of dried peaches, candied orange peel, raisin, prune, banana and caramel; on the palate it is warm with flavours of dried fruit, toasted oak and toffee. $73 at LCBO
This is not sipping rum. I didn’t like its flavor or lack of rum characteristics. Tastes like a cheap whiskey. Screw top instead of cork is another fault.
Only drink with ice. Not good at all.
I don’t get much to nose. Pretty smooth taste with wood, smoky, oak and I get sweetness from sugar. Good rum but have had better
Pleasant enough bur for the price there are others I would prefer to have in my collection. Nice bottle though.
A fantastic rum - you can taste the “aged” in it. Best sipped on the rocks a rich aged rum taste - not too sweet with a wonderful aftertaste
Easy and smooth carribean style rum. Very well balanced with melassed, this is my calibration rum to which compare others. I would rate this higher but its bit too sweet for my taste, i wish they add less sugar. Anyway my long time favorite and worth the price tag.
Dark bitter chocolate the moment the glass is placed on nose. Honey, dried lychee and toasted coconut with sour cherry compote.
Smokey thick molasses aroma with unripe cherry. A touch of over ripen papaya on the palate.
Finish with honey and sweet baking spices. Towards the end, good flavour of gula melaka with dry coconut (filings of kuih dadar, a local Malaysian pastry)
Un rhum très bon, avec beaucoup de notes d'épices.
Caractère affiché au nez et ensuite le gout et le finish ne sont pas décevant
Smooth, not too sweet, put an ice cube in it and enjoy!
Full flavored molasses rum with a kick in the back. An ice cube mellows this one out.
Sweet and smooth, without the extras. Totally ok for sipping
It´s a good Rum, but for this price i can get some better one
nic specialne pre mna. patri medzi slusne rumy. je to taka klasika. neurazi , ale ani nenadchne. je to klasicky predstavitel tohto alkoholu. urcite nieje naskodu vyskusat ale nieje to nic co by ste museli vyskusat. nastup sladkasti, potom zauraduje trochu alkohol a zohreje, relativne rychlo a mozno az moc prekryje chute v tele. je to skor ovocna a korenista chut. dozvuk korenenisty, podporovany alkoholom, trosku dlhsi a asi prave tu sa prejavi najsilnejsia stranka tohto rumu. 7,3/10
