Angostura 1824 rum is a blend of rums aged for at least 12 years in oak barrels. The aged rums are blended, re-casked, and upon maturity hand-drawn for bottling.
This rum is named and crafted in honor of Dr. Johann Siegart's founding of Angostura house in the city of Angostura, Venezueala in 1824. Angostura 1824 rum production is now based in Trinidad.

I always go for the finall net experience and this rum leaves an unimprovable one. Regardless of how, the depth and strength of the flavor(s) achieved by rum are amazing. The vanilla, cinnamon, chocolate, and dry fruit notes are so clear and intense you can almost chew it as you drink it. Excellent as a sipper or with mineral water and lime. It always makes you want to have one more.
This was the first sipping rum I tasted, and still the only rum I always keep in my cabinet. As a whisky lover, I love the hint of smoke. Complex undertones and not too sweet. Simply delicious!

I may have received an older bottle as it was a square bottle with a cork top. The more recent bottling is a round bottle. This review refers to the square bottled version which I had:
Beautiful Spanish-style blended rum. Deep and complex with strong notes of vanilla throughout. Truly one of the best rums I've had. Delightful to sip and it is distinctive enough to turn a good cocktail into a cocktail that is memorable. As a tikiphile, I've found it to be amazing as the base of a top-shelf Pupule.
I've heard rumors that the newer bottling in round bottles with a screw top is not necessarily the same - I'll update my rating when I've had the newer bottling.

Color is a nice Dark Amber. Legs are thin but seem to cling longer than you would expect. The nose is of sweet molasses, vanilla, and butterscotch. The taste is drier than the nose but still has predominate flavors of molasses and vanilla. The oak of the barrel is definitely present. A second sip brings out a bit of leather and tobacco. The finish is a bit hot with lots of spicy notes. Leaves me wanting more. A very complex rum. A keeper for sure.

Delicious and good for sipping. Better than the 1919.

This is one of my absolutely favourites. Price in Estonia is about 50€ and its worth of every penny. Taste is nice and round with a small hint of chocolate.
'mouth-watering flavours of honey, fruit, chocolate'
