Cockspur 5 Star Fine

Sugar: 0-4 GPL. Right off the start there is Oak, Vanilla, a bit of caramel and some biting spice. This is a golden rum which comes from limited aging. Like other “Mixing “ rums this one has some harsh alcohol taste and aroma that cola or other juice mixes will hide and make for a good mixed drink.

This was a nice rum to drink with coke. However to me this tastes extremely sweet. While I can imagine this making it popular, it was not to my taste.

The locals drink this one because of its price (cheap). Diffidently not for sipping. Big bite, OK with cola. Not a collection standard.

Looks very cheap and can be found in most supermarkets so I've avoided this rum but finally tried it recently and its really not that bad. Not too much flavour but relatively smooth.

I sampled this rum on the rocks, but then had the bar-tendress add a splash of cola to finish it. Good, straight-up, nicely-colored rum...but just not up to sipping standards. Showed well with the cola, though, so if you like a Rum&Coke as your mainstay, please try this.

Rum lacks a bite. To get the taste through when drinking with a mixer it requires double the slug of more potent brands.
Not obnoxious but not great either.

An excellent all-rounder... Also value for money is decent

Sweet, easy drinking and perhaps bland would be the best word or maybe inoffensive.

As far as golden rum's go, this one is certainly a cut above supermarket's own brand, but doesn't particularly stand out. Fine mixed or straight, there are simply better options

Not one for sipping really but OK if mixed with Coke or whatever your favourite Rum mixer is
