Appleton Estate Rare Blend 12-Year

This one exceed my expectations for this price. Good sipper

Funky Jamaica mixed with a lot of dark fruits, oak and spices. Charming and mysterious.

Smoother than the vx, worth the extra money if you can afford it.

Et bien voilà un bon rhum, sans sucre ajouté, bien ficelé une attaque franche, un développement harmonieux avec une belle longueur finale. Des arômes fins et des notes caramel léger. Tout ce qu'on demande à un bon rhum, tout ça à moins de 40€. Bravo.

The aroma is strong: berry jam. Classic dry taste, 43% burns seriously. It gives warmth and strength. Heavy within normal limits. The effect of confidence, calm.

I'm not a fan of Jamaican rum so was hesitant to buy this one. Was pleasantly surprised that it was too funky. Nice as a supper but not too expensive for a mix.

I haven't try previous version of this rum so I have not to compare but this one is very good. I am big fan of english-style rums and especialy jamaican ones. I liked their VX/signature blend but they are good only for mixing. They are was too rough and hasn't fit to drink neat. This Rare Blend is better. It's not too harsh but it could keep its jamaocan nature hidden in the woods.

Nice molasses with good body and its well rounded none of the spiky flavour profile that I get with the Signature which is my go to regular Rum. I can detect the difference to the old 12 year but that bottle is long gone and a comparison is no longer an available option
