Fuity and tough, with lots of personality. One of the best agricoles!
My first whiff was of paint. It is nice and dry, a little dusty too. And the taste is nice and long. But for some reason I just don't love sipping it. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't pour it out... I do like it, but it hasn't changed my life.
I have tried and tried (and tried) to appreciate this rum. And I just can't. I like agricole well enough, but this just doesn't taste good to me at all. Clearly a case of "to each, his own."
Now then! If you see a bottle of Rhum Clément X.O., buy it without hesitation, or better still let me know and I will gladly pay you twice the amount you have paid with a smile on my face. Usually this would be too classy for a mere novice but this rum has taken my out of the comfort zone.
Notes of plum, pear, grass, lemon?!, burnt toffee, bonfire night in a glass!
The finish is so elegant, just the correct amount of warmth for my taste and leaves you yearning for that next sip, in fact it is so soothing. I wish I really do wish I could find a bottle somewhere. This is verging on a 9.5 a truly world class rum.
Nice color Nice flawors where vanille is dominante. The at bit to much.
As said good aftertaste with a hint of fudge and citrus but to stinging alcohol taste
Heerlijke agricole rhum van Martinique. Specerijen, hout, tabak vanille, droog. Wel prijzig.
I am just missing any sweetness in this quite expensive rum. Strong in the nose and mouth... fruity and almost some flowers in the end. Interesting, but missing some sugar for a joy. I wouldn't buy it again.
(I love Opthimus/Centenario/QRM)
All those years soaking in oak have resulted in a truly delicious, aged agricole. It's bone dry and very smoky, and combined with its lacquer overtones I'm reminded of a great Caroni rum (but not whiskey, as others have suggested). A little bit of fire keeps it interesting. Straight up all the way.
Brillant in color, give good taste, not strong in mouth. Very good
Nice complex aroma with little noticeable alcohol, fumes. Very smooth & balanced for a 44% abv. Rhum Agricole. Good long finish with some oaky dryness and a hint of sweetness.
As usual with Rhum Agricole if you like the sweeter (with added sugar) kind of rum than this is not for you but those that like whisky and brandy will go nuts over this.
At the moment I have a rum tasting and after a few good rums this one is not bad, but not a rum taste beverage. This is more like a whisky. No more clement xo for me.
Tried it two times now. To me it's whisky, and sadly, not a nice one either . Totally no sweetness only bitterness. And that for around a hundred bucks??The first, and last Agricole-rum for me!
It's literally identical to the vsop in taste except more dry and peppery. Not a great sipper. Very harsh with strong dryness sensation. The dryness is fine paired alone but with the harshness it's like having your tongue dried and burned. I could see this drank with rocks. But honestly just get the vsop. You're literally paying triple the price just for a little extra dry flavour. I could say it has flavors of this and that but you're better off just buying the vsop and imagining it dried out and that's it. Still an extremely good Agricole but it's not on the rum end of things, more like a Cognac/bourbon. I am all about the dollar per value so I suggest to sip some Woodford reserve bourbon. You won't tell the difference besides the 80$ you saved.
if you haven´t checked agricole rhum til now, this is a good try. one of the softer agricoles, this is a good idea to start with, although not a cheap one. Over all it tastes very smooth and elegant, rounded notes of fruit, caramel, vanilla and nut.
One of the 10% of rums made with sugar cane, this is very good.
Un très bon rhum agricole, pas trop fort, un arôme complexe boisé et épicé avec une belle longueur. Une valeur sûr du rhum martiniquais.
I've had a number of agricoles, and haven't been overly impressed with any of them... until I tried this. This is a complex rhum, which smells of oak, toffee, honey, tobacco, sugar, brown sugar, and a light peppery spice. Taste is equally complex. It's a bit strong at 44%abv, but rhums this good should be a bit stronger, without any water or ice to take away from their goodness. If you're not an agricole fan (which I'm not), I'm guessing you'll really like this one anyway.
