you get a good rum for small bucks. the vsop from clement is a good starting rhum for the field of agricole. smokey, green gras, hints of vanilla an a little bit harsh. make it warm and n-joy. (in the field of the very good rhums, this one failed. it´s too simple in comparsion to ie h.s.e, longueteau & damoiseau.)

While I would not consider this rum spectacular, I cannot deny that that it is a quality product. It is a good, but not great sipping rum. Nothing in particular stands out in its profile but it should not be discounted as a well-created product.

A good choice if you like the "Rhums vieux agricoles" type of drink. Not the greatest i've tasted so far but worth the low price it costs. Good not only neat but also over ice or mixed with coke or orange juice.

Spirit is definite. Works well on the rocks. Good rum.
Too much whisky for my taste. Good looking bottle, looks good on the cabinet.

Un peu sec, alcool présent mais pas envahissant. On retrouve des notes de cacao et de bourbon. Un bon rapport qualité-prix
A little dry, alcohol present but not intrusive. We find hints of cocoa and bourbon. A good value for money

Smooth and well balanced Rhum Agricole.
There certainly are other even better Rhums out there but at it's price point Clement's VSOP is really hard to be beaten.

I found it dry although the nose is quite nice and very flavoured with oak and floral notes. Once you drink it this is a very different story. It is very dry and harsh not sweet and reminds of a whiskey as a lot of people say. Now the finish: that's the part I liked most to be honest as I could feel it for a very long time and the taste became slightly sweeter and more balanced revealing more complexity. Just a shame that you have to go all though this to have a glimpse of hope. To me here is a lack of consistency in this rum from nose to finish. Not that bad but not great a all

My first agricole 7 out of 10

I finished this off at Christmas time, and have forgotten most of the critical particulars. It was the first Agricole I have had; so I am not expert on the comparison. I enjoyed it mostly neat. I have read other reviews who opine that it is like whiskey. As a single malt sipper, I find that might have been the attraction. The sugar syrup versus molasses derivation is still a mystery to me. I will buy it again after a few more trips around the rum "block." I really was attracted by the shelf presence of the bottle and the look of the label.
