It is my favourite coconut rum, and probably also favourite rum too. Found this gem while touring Oahu years ago. It is smooth, has fresh coconut flavour and it's not overly sweet. Leaves nice after taste in you mouth. Usually I prefer my rums to be chilled but this one tastes great even room temperature

Color: The Koloa Coconut Rum captivates immediately with its clear, crystalline appearance, akin to the pristine waters of the tropics, inviting you to dip into its tropical bounty.

Aroma: The aroma of this rum is a delightful and authentic bouquet of coconut. There's no artificial, candy-like essence to be found here. Instead, the scent is reminiscent of fresh, creamy coconut milk – a genuine testament to the quality ingredients and care put into its production.

Body: The body of Koloa Coconut Rum exhibits a perfect balance. It is neither overly weighty nor excessively light. Rather, it carries a perfect medium body that holds its own while complementing a variety of cocktail ingredients.

Taste: The highlight of Koloa Coconut Rum is undoubtedly its flavor. The coconut is forward, yet not overpowering. It tastes like biting into fresh coconut, with the subtlety of the natural sweetness and the faint hint of tropical fruit. It stands up well on its own, but truly shines when added to cocktails. With just a quarter to half an ounce, it can transform a good cocktail into a great one, providing an unmistakable tropical signature.

Finish: This rum surprises with its smooth finish. Despite its 40% ABV, it does not burn or leave an alcoholic aftertaste. Instead, it fades away gently, leaving a pleasant coconut note that lingers on the palate, inviting another sip or serving as the perfect close to a delicious cocktail.

Spice: Unlike many rums, Koloa Coconut does not present a distinct spiciness. The focus here is the coconut, allowing the sweet and creamy flavors to star. It's a well-considered choice that makes this rum an excellent addition to cocktails without fear of clashing flavors.

Overall, Koloa Coconut Rum is a standout in the realm of flavored rums. I rate it as one of the best coconut rums available. The authenticity of its flavor profile and its well-rounded characteristics make it a versatile choice for inventive cocktail creations. Be it a classic Coconut Daiquiri or an experimental concoction, this rum will impress with its quality and consistency. Its natural coconut flavor and balanced strength make Koloa a prime choice for any rum lover or cocktail enthusiast.

Hands down the best coconut rum I have ever had. It’s a natural coconut flavor not the sickeningly sweet artificial flavor everyone else uses.

This rum is made with real coconut and it's delicious. The coconut flavor is strong, and I find 1/4 oz.of it in a cocktail is a perfect amount I make a coconut-pineapple daiquiri with it: 2 1/2 oz. Plantation pineapple rum, 1/4 oz. Koloa coconut rum, 1 oz. lime juice, 3/4 oz. simple syrup. Shake and strain.

Solid tasting coconut rum with a higher abv than most. Not much too it other than that. If you like coconut then you need to try this.

Flavored rums, and to some degree, most flavored spirits, tend to have a bad reputation and that's because they often taste artificial and overly sweet. Koloa Coconut Rum is the exception to that stereotype. It is truly a rum with added flavor that actually tastes genuine, and that may seem like a novelty, but it's really kind of revelation in the flavored rum department, at least within the flavored rums that are readily available in today's market.

Overall: 9. And that's not to say it's a 9 within the sipping rum sphere, but within the flavored rum market there are few that match its quality.

The sweetness and coconut are nice and balanced, not overly pastry like
Barely any heat.
Maybe not a nine but an 8.6 or 8.7

I was the Sugarcane Bar in the Venetian on the Strip which is an exceptional Rum Bar and I asked their well trained Mixoligist surprise me and this is one of 2 rums he served. After tasting then having a mixed fruit drink with it I am hooked! It is thus far with out a doubt the best Coconut Rum there is. It is a must taste and enjoy.

After reading reviews from "experts" proclaiming this to be the best coconut rum on the market, I knew I had to order a bottle for my wife who loves coconut rum (ever since she sampled Ron Ricardo coconut rum in the Bahamas). This coconut rum comes in at 80 proof which is higher than most coconut rums. This rum is flavored with natural coconut and you can definitely smell the coconut in the bottle. Not a coconut extract smell but a real, freshly-grated coconut aroma. Whereas the coconut rums I have tasted thus far overdo it on the coconut flavor, the Koloa coconut seems to have found the proper balance between the sugar cane flavor and the coconut flavor. They complement each other rather than the coconut overpowering it. The thing I found most interesting is that even though it is 80 proof there is hardly any burn to this rum but don't let it fool you. It will sneak up on you and kick you square in the butt if you are not careful. This could work as a sipping rum if you really like coconut. This also works beautifully in tropical drinks calling for coconut and rum.

If there is a better coconut rum anywhere in the world, I'd like to know about it but I have a feeling one does not exist. For coconut rum aficionados, this is the ultimate.
