Pleasant aroma with vanilla and oak. Mild but intense on tongue with longlasting aftertaste

The first time I tried this rum, I disliked it very much. It was overly woody and I dismissed it entirely. I tried it again the other night in a Glencairn glass with the mindset that it would be unlike most rums I am used to drinking and found that it was quite enjoyable. It has a unique aroma, like toasted wet hay with a smooth finish. Supplemented by sweeter rums, it adds a layer of depth and complexity to cocktails. I will be trying this again as a sipper soon.

Voici le premier rhum vieux agricole que j'ai gouté.
J'ai le souvenir d'un rhum très épicés et assez boisé, à boire sec ou en Ti' Punch :)

Un bon rhum mais pas forcément excellent. Très boisé.
Très bon en cocktail pour moi c'est avec un trait de sucre de canne

The fact that you can find it in supermarkets as a "top" brand will save your nights for "ti punch" if you like it with gold rum as I do. Not bad, but nothing amazing.

Je le préfère en cocktails (Mojito, par ex), plutôt qu'en rhum de dégustation. Il serait plutôt paille que vieux.

I bought this thinking it would be a good supplement for VSOP which I can't find in my area. Its definitely drier and not nearly as sweet as traditional rum, obviously because it isnt. It wasn't bad in my tiki drinks but will need to try more to better understand it.
Edit* I enjoy this a lot more now. I had only experienced it in cocktails and Dont prefer what it adds in a cocktail.
Sipping is a entirely different experience. It's quite good neat or with a little ice.
