It tastes like pineapple. Like, it's right there on the label and everything. So if you buy it thinking you're going to get a rum that tastes like anything except, well, pineapple, you've only got yourself to blame.

Reading through some of the other ratings here, others seem to feel that the pineapple flavor was subtle and only popped in context with other ingredients; for me, I felt like someone had just lodged a pineapple spear sideways in my nose and then gave me a glass of some decent but totally arbitrary rum to drink as a chaser.

I suppose there must be some context in which this makes sense, but to me this just reminded me of a more grown up version of the wine coolers I used to drink when I was young and foolish. The closest thing I can think of in flavor is a pineapple champagne I tried from a winery on Maui; similar to that, while it was interesting as a novelty experience, I found myself staring at the bottle once I got home from my trip and wondering how I'd ever actually use it.

I guess buy this if you really like pineapple-flavored things. But I'd rather spend my money on their over-the-top amazing Plantation Three Star or their XO 20th Anniversary instead.

tastes like pineapple. Not a sipping rum at all. If you like to have candy and alcohol, this is it. I might use it in a cocktail...

Wow! What can I say, this is an amazing rum! My expectations on this rum were not very high. But I was in for a surprise. When I opened the bottle and held my nose to it there came an aroma of round smooth pineapple, vanilla and punchpraline scent, which was very seductive! The taste was fantastic! As good as the aroma. There were flavours of vanilla, punchpralines, banana, rumraisins and of course a smooth finish with pineapple at the end. All in a pefect mix and balance with just the right sweetness! This rum is too tasty for mixing. At least that's my opinion! The price on it is very reasonable! I must buy a reserve bottle soon because the one I have won't last much longer. If you don't have this bottle in your cabinet already you have to go and buy it right now!

I'm really not into the 'tuti fruti' rums but ordered this by mistake. It happens. Actually under the right circumstances as a a frozen concoction of some nature, this is not bad as I thought it might be the Pineapple burst topped on the smooth caramel flavor making it quite interesting.

The pineapple flavor seemed forced. Did not work as a sipping rum.

Beautiful coppery color with a well-balanced rum between exotic fruits, pineapple head followed by banana and alcohol that remains very discreet back. In the mouth, one is on the same notes with an average and sweet final. Another beautiful achievement of Plantation and I agree with some comment : Easy to sip your way through half a bottle before you realize that you only have half a bottle left....

Wonderful aroma of pineapple, burnt sugar, and banana. Well balanced flavor with a hint of pineapple. Very nice sipper.

Had this first time in the Brig rum bar in Falmouth - so glad the barman introduced me to it as it will be with me for life or as long as it's available because it's difficult to get hold of in the UK, I had to wait almost 12 months for it to come back on sale here. The pineapple taste is so delicate and doesn't overpower the finish of this wonderful rum which I can't speak highly enough of. Perfect balance of sweetness and a touch of wood in the finish that leaves you wanting more. I really wish I had bought more of this because I know when I come to order again it won't be available.

Damn this is fruity!
Plantation original dark soaked in pineapple, both in nose and mouth.
The pineapple really enhances the smell of fudge and vanilla.
Taste is round and longlasting.

super stuff if you're into fruity rum. Very well balanced without the overwhelming pineapple taste you might expect! Definitely recommended.
