There’s always a danger with something like this that it becomes too much about the fruit and not enough about the rum. Plantation have the balance about right here: there’s a lovely pineapple aroma, but the taste doesn’t overpower the rum. A good sipping rum.

Ein Rum, auf den ich wohl erst später gestoßen wäre, wenn ich ihn nicht als Geschenk bekommen hätte.
Beim Geruch kitzelt einem zunächst ein wenig Ethanol die Nase, welches dann jedoch sofort durch sehr fruchtige Noten ersetzt wird, die ich am ehesten als eine Mischung aus säuerlichem Früchtebrot und Ananas — nicht direkt das Fruchtfleisch, mehr die Schale der reifen Frucht — beschreiben würde; sehr süß.
Geschmacklich ist neben vorherrschender Ananas nicht viel los: Ein leichtes Brennen, insgesamt aber sehr weich und fruchtig-süß.
Im Abgang hält der Geschmack recht lange an, hinterlässt dann aber eine leicht bittere Präsenz.
Für mich in der Preisklasse ein fabelhafter Rum, der definitiv auch 10€ mehr kosten könnte. Insgesamt 7/10 Punkten. Durch die schöne Aufmachung einfach ein tolles Geschenk mit klasse Preis-Leistung.

This is a very unique rum that i find to be incredibly smooth, not over the top sweet and with a nice pineapple taste. I didn't notice the pineapple too much on the first few times i tried it but the more i drink of it, the more i can taste it and it adds to the smoothness. Overall, this is a very solid rum.

Honestly I’m not a fan of this one, although I can see why other adore it. I definitely prefer a sweeter rum, this however only has a slight hint of pineapple. Worth a try and will not go to waste

While discussing rums with my faithful rum supplier, he mentioned this particular type. Being a bit hesitant at first, he offered me a taste. I now always have a bottle in my cabinet.
Mellow in taste with a delightful sweet aftertaste. For some maybe a bit too sweet though.

Musste mich dem Rum erst nähern und brauchte mehrere Verkostungen. Danach war alles gut. Sehr schöner Taste nicht nur nach Ananas.

Very good plantation rum. Smooth with really strong pineapple aroma. Taste is also full of pineapple and some other tropical fruit. To my taste to much pineapple flavour but it is very solid rum.

This rum is great on the rocks. The text on the label is fun to read.

Perhaps not one for all rum purists, but this is a far cry from a spiced rum, so I would recommend trying it with an open mind.
When I first uncorked the bottle, it was like sniffing a ripe pineapple that had been soaked in smooth and fruity rum. The taste was then no surprise, with strong notes of pineapple, which doesn't overpower the rummy flavour. The combination of infusing the rum with pineapple bark and then adding distilled pineapple macerate gives a fruity flavour, whilst remaining far less sweet than you might expect ("off-dry" is probably the best descriptor), with a hint of burnt molasses and a smokey finish. I haven't tried the Plantation Original Dark that is used as the base for this, but can deduce that it must have a fairly prominent banana flavour, as this cuts through behind the pineapple. As with most rums, adding a tiny splash of water opens up the flavour a bit.
As has already been said by others, it would be very easy to sip your way through half a bottle of this neat without realising.
I haven't tried mixing it yet, but I'm going to have some with a splash of hot water and some sugar before bed tonight :)
