Perhaps not one for all rum purists, but this is a far cry from a spiced rum, so I would recommend trying it with an open mind.
When I first uncorked the bottle, it was like sniffing a ripe pineapple that had been soaked in smooth and fruity rum. The taste was then no surprise, with strong notes of pineapple, which doesn't overpower the rummy flavour. The combination of infusing the rum with pineapple bark and then adding distilled pineapple macerate gives a fruity flavour, whilst remaining far less sweet than you might expect ("off-dry" is probably the best descriptor), with a hint of burnt molasses and a smokey finish. I haven't tried the Plantation Original Dark that is used as the base for this, but can deduce that it must have a fairly prominent banana flavour, as this cuts through behind the pineapple. As with most rums, adding a tiny splash of water opens up the flavour a bit.
As has already been said by others, it would be very easy to sip your way through half a bottle of this neat without realising.
I haven't tried mixing it yet, but I'm going to have some with a splash of hot water and some sugar before bed tonight :)

Admission: I'm not a fan of flavoured rums. They are usually cheap, awful and poorly made. This is an exception.

Plantation have outdone themselves here, they've actually commited to making a good rum without using cheap, nasty flavourings. Instead they have macerated the pineapple with the rum to create something that has a real pineapple taste and it balances perfect with the rum. This is not some awful, artificial, overly-sweet liquor - it actually works really well. You can drink this over ice or you can make an amazing daiquiri with it or try it with another rum in a cocktail, this is really worth having in your drinks cabinet.

Jemnější, ne tak sladký přírodně aromatizovaný rum. Překvapilo mně, že u Plantation rumů je každý úplně jiný a nelze se spoléhat, že když vám jeden Plantation chutná, podobně to bude i u jiného Plantation.

This rum's unique flavor makes one of the best rum & cokes you will ever have. A great refreshing rum!

Rum is pretty good I think. It is not the sweetest, but it does not have an unpleasant alcoholic "tail" for me either.
When you smell it, you can slightly smell the freshly sliced pineapple and it will show in the taste until the end. The aroma is not intrusive. In my opinion, 3 months of maceration were just right.
After Plantation 20XO surprised. I was expecting a sweet mouthpiece. I can't compare them. everyone is different to me. But better than I thought.

This rum is amazing. The bottle is stunning, as is their label. The rum is delicious and has a pineapple flavour but is not too sweet. It has the perfect balance between the bite of rum and the sweetness of the pineapple. Definitely a favourite when it comes to sweeter rums.

Was a little too nippy to drink neat, but it shines in a cocktail. It adds a bright, distinctive touch to a cocktail without overpowering the drink. The good Reverend has kicked my daiquiri up another notch.

The pineapple flavor and aroma are there, but in perfect proportion to the rum itself.Real pineapple and not overpowering. This isn't a flavored party rum. It's nice to sip on, smooth and unique

The rum taste in it self isn't that much to brag about but the pineapple flavor is jum jum. What I love about this one it's not a spiced rum, it's just crazy how they make it.
It's not the bottle you buy all the time. Fun factor is 10/10. Very unique!

While I am normally a fan of most of Plantation's offerings this makes me wretch every time I've tried it. Nasty. Headache in a bottle

Bardzo fajna kompozycja. Ananas wyczuwalny ale nie mocno intensywny. Polecam dla smakoszy.
