Thanks so much for submitting a report. It has been emailed to the Rum Captain and will be actioned shortly.
Very dark reddish amber. Aromas of molasses, some hazelnut and dried fruits. In mouth, vanilla, honey/caramel, leather and oak notes dominate. A tiny bit of an alcohol bite but it was fine to drink neat nonetheless - it is a fairly dry rum though. There is a short finish with mostly toasted notes. A medium-bodied rum, dry but arguably not a biting bone-dry flavour because of how it's evenly balanced. I found it quite nice.
All in all, I would settle for somewhere around 7.5/10, which I'll settle on 8/10 for now as I do not find it much worse than many highly rated sweeter rums.
Pretty dark Rum. Dannemara molasse comes out at 1st sniff. I found a rich and caramely taste. Great rum at that price tag
An interesting rum, quite harsh to start with but it smooths out. To my taste buds, it's actually not better than the standard Chairman's Reserve - I wouldn't buy this for 70%+ more in terms of price.
What does it taste like? Imagine a marriage of Chairman's Reserve and Mount Gay Black Barrel and you are not far off - this certainly has more of an oaky, charred bourbon taste than the original, but it's not quite as sweet and round in the middle.
It has a good oaky nose and a very strong oaky, smokey-bourbon like finish, but in the mouth, I prefer the standard Chairman's Reserve.
Did expect more to be honest...smells better than it tastes..
Good british style rum.
Taste is mostly influenced by wooden character of casks with hints of vanilla.
A fantastic rum the best I’ve had yet with a smooth taste that is quick to distinguish itself from the rest of the shelf I’d highly recommend this to anyone.
In my opinion the finest rum available.
I found his in Cubanas, Sheffield which has now become my go-to drink in my go-to bar.
I’d love to know where else in the UK serves this premium St Lucia rum.
Very nice label, bland bottle and a screw cap sets the stage for Chairman's Reserve Forgotten Casks. Color is nice semi deep, smell is quite alcoholic, taste is not bad, but very bland. Trying to the cheaper version of the Chairman's Reserve next.
Fin rom. Synes prisen er lidt meget i forhold til kvaliteten. Skulle den have haft 8/9 skulle den have været 100 kr billigere.
A sweet, and not too heavy flavour, with a nice smooth finish, tasty
good price, good taste, good quality.
GOOD RUM! having this in home bar will not be a mistake.
Schöne Balance mit feinen Aromen. Der ausgewogene Geschmack verwöhnt den Gaumen mit einer süßen Fruchtigkeit, gepaart mit feinen Gewürzen.
One of the most traditional products of Saint Lucia. Light on the palate, with a almond bouquet. Light dark
A lovely story behind the name forgotten Casks. But an average rum at best and a bit pricey for such averageness. A rum that you can easily share with others. Basic taste that tends to a light oaky flavour. Taste not worth paying US $40 which is what I paid when I was in st Lucia. Not in the class of Jamican..Trinidad and Barbados rums
Rich, caramelly, smooth. Nothing outstanding (especially for a St. Lucia rum), but it is very tasty.
Pas mal d arômes qui prennent la bouche, pique légèrement la langue mais le goût de l alcool reste sobre.
Rum wat lekker makkelijk weg drinkt niet te zoet beetje rokerig. Oké om dronken mee te worden
To the nose, strong alcohol and burned. Very smoked on the tongue. Mixed with Coke on a 1:4 ratio it's quite nice but still very smokey.
Expected a bit more. Not sure what I didn't like about it but wouldn't order again.
Good rum, but did expect slightly more from it. Taste lastes great, which is great
Sugar 0-5 GPL.
Good marketing concept that gets your attention and curiosity. There was nothing special in terms of taste that would cause you to hoard or over buy on this rum. Oak, pepper, dry fruit and some caramel all present and accounted for in this rum. It's a bit sharp on entry, but that fades to a nice long burn. This rum was aged in Jim Beam and Jack Daniels casks that give it a burnt taste. I have other rums from St Lucia (1931 series) that are smoother and more complex in flavour for sipping neat. This rum makes for a great mixing rum and it's okay for a sipping rum if you like your rum on the dry side.
I had this as a Christmas gift and I really enjoyed it. surprised to see no one else has liked it as much as me. Really hit the spot for my enjoyed it straight for sipping but also with both a dash of coke and with lemonade TOP RUM
We had tried the regular and it was nothing special but this is a drastic improvement. I did not want to by the regular one more than once, I would spend the money to by this again.
At my first tasting, it seemed a little over-oaked. Second time, it felt more balanced, and tasty. Third time, oaky and buttery. A solid mature St. Lucian rum, but the oak is the most prevalent feature for me.
