When I was a rum rookie this was my "one of the best" choices. After about 18 months I find it somewhat boring and "no handwriting". But it is still a good sweeter rounded €30 rum with distinguishable sherry and/or bourbon tones. The label is now different (Hell) but the taste remains the same...
Surprisingly, it is quite enjoyable! Unlike other soleras that i have tasted, it has a deep, complex taste, with a pleasing woody/oak hint and an even more surprising, not-overly-sweet tone! I never liked solera age style rums, but this one, i could certainly dig it! Yet, i am saving my money for the really good stuff. Works well, for a sworn enemy of sugarbombs, yes!
It’s a good rum, a blend from all over Caribbean, but with no particular character
I bought this rum purely because of the name, which was a little clever even though we are dealing with a porn legend. To my surprise I also got a fairly decent rum for my collection.
Nose: Sweet and deep caramel, coffee and a hint of oak
Taste: A smooth and warm taste of caramel with a small hint of oak
Overall: This is a decent rum for beginners and not just a gimmick with a "funny name". It is however too sweet to really hit the spot for me. It is however a good rum, when you need a little cozy sipper.
Mycket anis misstänksamt mycket,. Men helt klart bra!
En meget rund og blid rom, som de fleste nok ville kunne drikke. Jeg havde faktisk ikke forventet mig så meget af denne rom, men der er dog stadig på det jævne.
"Vanilla, a tiny hint of spice and the hint of an oaky component..."
"Ron de Jeremy XO review by the Rum Diaries Blog"
Smells a little of stewed almost overripe fruits.
"It doesn’t smell like rum. No oak, no spice, no Vanilla notes, no Jamaican funk."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Overly sweet, but a decent effort

Ron de Jeremy will remain a novelty rum. Something to snigger about at the office christmas party. And indeed my bottle was gift. Not something i'd pick up myself. Having said that: it isn't bad. It is an actual, veritable, drinkable rum. More than a gimmick. There is some character there, though most of it is obscured by sugar. It is very cloying. Ron de Jeremy makes your lips sticky and a rum should never to that. It wouldn't surprise me if RdJ is in fact 15yo Zacapa solera relabeled, but I could be wrong. It's been a while since I last had Zacapa (nor am I inclined to). So all in all, I don't see much reason to ever purchase Ron de Jeremy, but I won't be pouring it down the sink either.
