I'd like to compare this one to the young plantation rums, it's light, not too sweet and has a nice complex aroma with hints of banana and tropical fruits. Buy around 25€ and you'll not be disappointed.
Smooth and easy drinking rum. Soft sweetness plus hints of oak. Some kind of adhesive lurks in the background. Ripe Pineapple and Raisins.
I really enjoyed this rum. Its smooth tasting and goes well with Ginger Ale. Highly recommend!
This blended rum caught my attention right at the start for its very complex strong aroma, once you nose in the glass. The rum is smooth, pleasant in the mouth and round-bodied.
There is reason in being critical towards the dogma that "older is better". "Ooh, I have this 18 year old rum, it surely must be better than this 12 year old rum." Wrong. Aging does things - often good things - but it doesn't neccesarily make a better rum. I was pleasantly suprised by the line up of 5 year old rums by CDI. The 'Latino' is light and bright. It has some character but certainly isn't 'heavy'. It's not overly sweet, with a nice dry finish. And because it hasn't spend a quarter of a century in a barrel, it's lively: you can have another one and another and another without getting saturated with oak. Try doing that with old rum. This is a sophisticated party drink or an unfuzzy summer evening sipper, it might become a permanent addition to my cabinet.
Great rum and bang for your buck. Nicely layered with tones from the bourbon casks and sweet esters. The 40% is not even annoying. Good stuff.
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label
