I was quite surprised by this, its cheapish but its not bad

From a smell point of view, it just like standard rum with no linger, the taste is nice, a woody sense with a slight caramel every now and then.

A sipper with ice at the best (at a push), but really nice with the right mix, I used L& P at a 2 parts mix and one part rum.

Definitely feels like it could be a session rum

The price point is above the cheap bracket

This rum can be good if you get the right batch. I’ve had some very ordinary and som very good. Not bad when on special

Sooory ale Bundaberg asi nie je moja oblubena znacka rumov. Ja ked je to vyssia rada stale citim zavan melasi na jazyku ktora ma velmi rusi. Kto raz ochutna bundaberg zapamata si jeho tipicku chut a spozna ju stale.

Well if I ever tasted a rum which was barely passable as a sipper, this would probably be it.

It feels like it comes in just over the line of respectability but as harsh as that might sound, I underline that it does come over the line.

First whiff aside from the ethanol alcohol wiff you get from every bottle of Bundy actually gives some nice notes. Nice cane sugar notes once you move past that, very raisiny and a bit of caramel perhaps?

Taste wise it's very heavy on raisins and dark fruits (probably matured in red wine or port casks from South Australia or somewhere), perhaps a hint of chocolate and there goes that aftertaste which makes you feel like you can set your breathe on fire. Thin legs, not much of a waxy mouth coat. Since I've opened the bottle and consumed about 20 percent of it, it really seems to have mellowed out. Much like some bottles of scotch or rum do once they've had a bit of time to mix with a bit of air.

That being said though, its still got that aggressive whiff of rocket fuel that all Bundabergs except for the Solera seem to have. The solera is very nice but to be fair, for the price you can do better with the South Americans or the Carribeans. Still, if anybody ever wanted to put the point forward that bundy can actually make rum for more than bogans and farmers, I think the point is proven.

Still, this is semi-decent effort from Bundaberg. They are known for their UP Rum which is pretty much synonymous for mixing with coke and found in literally every pub in Australia. Horrific to drink by itself but we've all had a few shameful nights of good fun round the campfire with mates on it.

Would I recommend this as a sipper? Yes if it was someone starting from a low place and wanting to dip their toe without spending too much. But equally too, it seems unfair to relegate this to Cuba Libre's given that it does show some promise. To be fair though, at 75 Australian dollars a bottle, or in my case, 60 on special does make up a lot for it so price vs quality is a good deal.

Decent rum 6 out of 10. Can stand on its own two feet but nothing extraordinary about it. Giving this anything more than giving it a 7 is just Australian chest-beating of their beloved Bundy.

Just incredible for the price, if I could only drink 1 rum again, it would be this. Downside is its possibly a bit sweet for the hardcore rum nerds, and hard to acquire outside of Australia

Good Bundy rum nice straight on ice.
One of Bundaberg rums better drops.

I liked this. Would have bought it under most circumstances after trying a friend's, but then tasted it alongside the small batch reserve and preferred that one. Now I'm wondering if I made the right choice

This one is not as sweet as Bundaberg Red for example, but you can still feel some sweet notes from port barrels which makes it very interesting. Very nice to drink neat, but not excellent.

I get the port taste from the barrels. It's about the only thing that keeps me interested. It's not terrible but it's not nice enough to drink neat and too expensive to mix. It's joins the ever growing list of rums these guys are pushing out as part of a seemingly never ending market push. Save your money and buy the solera. It is exceptional and theses all batches really aren't that small.
