The thing I like the most about Lady Bligh is the smooth taste. It has a lighter honey color, and is very good on the rocks or mixed with ginger beer or coke. For the price it is a mainstay in my bar.
Lady Bligh's squarely in that Captain Morgan area of spiced cola mixers, and in that regard it does well. I actually prefer it to Morgan, Sailor Jerry and the rest. It offers notes of toasted marshmallows, a ginger bite, and vanilla all the way through. Very sweet, okay for sipping if you know what to expect.
This is definitely a sweet rum. You can taste the vanilla...maybe honey, caramel, buttery even. Not quite as good as Captain Morgans Private Stock, but definitely a keeper for mixing with coke.
Enjoyed a bottle of Lady Bligh Spiced while visiting Grand Canyon. Childish bottle and label design. Vanilla extract, pure alcohol and more vanilla to the nose and palate when neat sipped. Way to sweet and artificial ending.
Bligh as you know, was captain of the British HMS Bounty in the late 1700s, who survived after being mutinied and set adrift by his crew. Not sure who "Lady" is but her picture on the label is worth a look. This rum's flavor is pretty hot too.
Inexpensive bottle — Hooray! Taste is sort of fruity and light, with a slight hint of chocolate. Good enough for sipping without mixing at all. I like Lady Bligh a lot. A must to have on hand for me.
The up front is delightful, even better than Captain. But, the aftertaste is where this falls short. Mix in your Cola of choice, and this becomes not only palatable, but delightful.
