Fantastic funky Rum from Fiji

The Barikenn Fiji is a pot still rum of the South Pacific Distillery from 2012, which was allowed to store in bourbon barrels for 9 years. The rum with the abbreviation FPBP comes as a Single Cask Rum with a cask strength of 58.5% alcohol and is bottled without additives or filtration. Bottling is limited to 291 bottles.
In the nose a lot of fermented fruit, banana, some wood, glue and rubber are strongly reminiscent of Jamaica. The rum is heavy in the nose and does a lot right here. It feels mineral and slightly artificial. On the palate, the aromas are repeated. The rum is full-bodied with fermented fruit, some spice, light wood note and a pleasant sweetness. The finish is then a bit thin and could last longer.
The Barikenn Fiji is a very good rum with a great nose. It is a little edgy. If you find a bottle, you can buy it if you like Ester Rums. The only point of criticism is that the rum does not stay in the mouth long enough. But overall a great rum with a great looking bottle.

In der Nase kommt viel vergorene Frucht, Banane, etwas Holz, Klebstoff sowie Gummi erinnern stark an Jamaika. Schwer liegt der Rum in der Nase und macht hier alles richtig. Am Gaumen wiederholen sich die Aromen. Der Rum ist vollmundig mit vergorener Frucht, etwas würze, leichter Holznote und einer angenehmen Süße. Der Abgang ist dann etwas dünn und könnte länger anhalten.
Der Barikenn Fiji ist ein sehr guter Rum mit einer tollen Nase. Wer eine Flasche findet kann hier beruhigt kaufen, wenn er Ester Rums mag. Einziger Kritikpunkt ist, dass der Rum nicht lange genug im Mund verbleibt.
