This is as smooth a rum as you would care to drink. I only gave it a 8 because it was just a tiny bit sweet and the vanilla is too overpowering for my taste. You will note the intense smell of vanilla immediately at first cork removal. That first sip also overwhelms with vanilla but the fine aftertaste has a good caramel and nutty tone, with just a hint of aging oak. It finishes with a sweetness that is a little much for me but for those who "like 'em" sweet. This could be your new favorite. Color is a beautiful clear dark amber and had they calmed down the vanilla and sweet....would easily have made my new favorite.
Really good rum, with taste of Vanilla, dry fruit, and oak - really enjoyed this one
Good rhum. Mais le 12 est presque aussi bon. Je trouve qu il y a pas beaucoup de différance entre le deux a part la couleur. Mais tres bon sur glace.
This rum has a full body taste. It can be served at room temperature or chilled. It has a nice taste upon entrance but the back end has a little bit of a bitter undertone.

Could be a bit higher proof but unbelievably smooth...almost like having desert
Oak and toffee flavours stand out. No burn, definitely smooth. Beautiful bottle, looks good on my bar shelve.
I actually like the 18 better. I'm guessing this is aged in barrels a bit longer, and no doubt it adds complexity and some tannins the 18 lacks.
Big jammy nose, surprisingly compact mouth feel. Big (ish), floral, good bit of spice. Nicely balanced, sweet and pepper finish. This is no doubt a beautiful rum, and my preferance for the 18 may belie my immature taste in Rums overall, but...hey, I gotta rate em as I drink em. Overall though, NOTHING wrong with this, and I'm enjoying the bottle a great deal.
This is big rum with all that you'll expect. Aroma is great

This rum grew on me over time. With a bold age statement, I was hoping to love it instantly, but to be honest it didn't work that way.
It took time, and sipping, and patience, but after a few weeks and by the time the bottle was empty, I was sad to see it gone.
This rum is a little on the dry side, but it would be unfair to fault it for that, especially for the price point. I came to appreciate its light, pleasant caramel hints on the nose and lack of burn on the way down. Didn't find the palate to be lingering, which had me taking sip after sip. Near the end of the glass, subtle sweetness is detected without feeling like swigging sugar water. Despite my initial trepidation, I'm proud to call myself a fan
