Yummy and has a long lasting finish. Would recommend and looking forward the others from the collection
One of the best rums I have tried so far. Definitely a sipper, don't you dare mix it. Very elegant and smooth, you will definitely taste the vanilla.
The old intense wood with apricot taste from the 12 is missing. I particularly liked that.
That's why I prefer the 12 years old.
Smell: some barrel, a hint of vanilla, some caramel, sherry.
Taste: dry fruit, some vanilla, some caramel, some oak, bitterness. Aftertaste of sherry.
Nice noise, nice tasting not to sweet and a lot of toffee tast I can't wait for the 23 year old cheers
Excellent flavor and the aromas are awesome. I open it every night just to nose it.
Like it a lot. One of the best so far I've tried. Closer to dry rum than Panamians, but it is still pleasanly sweet. Oak, fruits on nose. Not very long, but strong after taste
To be entirely honest, this one is similar to the 23. The main difference between the two is that the 23 is somewhat smoother, as age tends to do to any alcohol that lends itself to aging.
Otherwise, however, this one is almost as good. I mainly gave it a 7 simply because it isn't as smooth, and that smoothness is something I value. It has a very similar flavor profile to the 23, and, thus, similar drinkability. I absolutely recommend it.
Velmi dobrý, jemný rum. Pokud vím, tak by mělo jít o klasický stařený rum. Nikoliv míchaný. Svou vanilkovo-dubovou chutí a jemností je velmi dobrou volbou.
Dolce ma non stucchevole, corposo ed ottimo aroma, rum da provare assolutamente. Molto bella pure la bottiglia
Very good. Complex and balanced. Sweet, with a hint of a (good) burn. Taste of vanilla, almond and caramel. Nice long finish.
in a tasting round of 15 people the average was a nine. A rum, everybody would like to have in his bar at home. Smooth, fruity long lovely finish. up to 18 years old dom rep rums. in the mouth full of fruit. especially vanilla, sherry, dry fruits and raisin. not a big difference to the 23 year old one.
Very good dry rum. In mouth flavours of honey, almonds, vanilla, oak and sherry. Very smooth rum good for sipping for the whole evening.
Upgraded to 9 because it simply great.
I love this rum , it is sweet it has a vanilla caramel flavour and boy howdy it’s good
To expensive here in Canada but south of the border this price is very reasonable I’d pick up a case if I could bring it back and not get dinged , yep yep pick up a bottle and enjoy 😉👍👍
What an inviting aroma!
As always, I'm drinking my rum neat and this is another one that gently caresses your tongue.
It does feel like it's missing something in the finish to fully embrace me, but this is great quality rum.
A mid priced rum that hold it’s value. The nose is somewhat buttery with notes of cream brulee, vanilla seeds, caramel and perhaps a hint of cherry sauce and oak. Real nice.
The taste is medium bodied and semi dry with butterscotch and vanilla, finishing on well integrated and balanced tobacco leaves and oak that stays pleasently in the mouth for a while.
It’s very nice but not very adventurous.
I am not a rum aficionado or big on spirits. I bought this on a whim because it was expensive and not "Spiced" rum. I figured it had to be good. I was right. Very smooth. Does not taste like rum candy. I certainly will buy more when this runs out.
First rum I ever bought and still maybe my favorite.
Has a lot of vanilla notes. Enjoyable but not an overwhelming rum. Not much complexity.
The upfront aroma is lightly sweet, hints of molasses and vanilla. Fruity aromas as well. The flavor is smooth at first with a light sweetness up front. Hints of oak and vanilla with lightly spicy hints of cinnamon and dark fruit. A smooth rum that dries out just past the middle and finishes dry and lightly bitter. Smooth finish. Very nice sipping rum. A bit lighter in body than expected. Some comments about it being hot but I don't get that at all. I find it warming but not at all hot. If it had a little more body and just a bit bolder flavor I'd go 8 but it's a fine rum as it is. $42 in Ohio.
Edit 9/25/19 - On revisiting this rum I find that it's still solid. Hydrometer test shows little or no sugar added. Smooth as silk, lightly sweet and a perfect medium body that can be sipped all day. Light sweetness up front and drying in the finish. I this a very easy sipping rum. A solid 7 or 7.5. (Batch 4, bottle 218,856)
So far. The best. Sweet, vanilla, some little spices, very little alcool burn. OMGs is it ever good !! This one is a deffinate try but a bit on the pricey end. Worth every $. Just not a rum you drink often, it's a desert, a treat !!
This is truly a great rum i would recommend to any rum enthusiast. Just know this rum is on the sweeter side and the long aging has brought complexity to the finish. To me, this rum doesn’t have much of an oak note from aging. Enjoy.
Solid, typically Dominican rum. Good value at £40 a bottle. Better than the 12, not quite as good as the 23. Get a bottle.
An incredibly smooth rum with less sweetness than many. Notes of cola and vanilla dominate with a slight caramel note.
This 18 is delicious with a great aroma. It's a bit sweeter than I normally like. I will enjoy buying this again and will try the 23 year as well.. the 12 year was good too.
