This is worth having a taste if you are in Philippines. Good balance, sweet, smooth finish!
It's better than the 8 year, but not a top notch sipping rum
I can't put my finger on this rum. It smells really strange. Tried it at a rumfestival in Amsterdam. Just not my kind of rum.
Som sin lillebror en meget sød duft med bunker af frugtnoter. Smagen har mest orange i starten men bliver sødere og sødere mod vanilje. Har svært ved heltcat se den som rom. Men fint smager den
Rum som kupil s ocakavanim exkluzivnej chuti,no prislo sklamanie. Rum je sladky, ale zvlastny, neviem ho zaradit, prist na to co tym vyrobca myslel. Chuti ako Bentiana s vodkou.
Doesn't have the vanilla nose from the 7 year, stronger on spicy notes with cinnamon standing out. Goes down smoother than the former but not that great tasting either.
Ce rhum est la suite du premier avec plus de choses.
Well just returned from the Philippines and cracked this open... Better than Don Papa Small Batch. Very dark in color. Really reminds me of Diplomatico Reserva Exclusiva. I will compare the two side by side in the near future. El Dorado 12 was my go to rum, and drinking this side by side, Don Papa is much smoother. Like I said reminds me a lot of Diplomatico. Going to have to try and save this one as I doubt I'll ever find it again.
Dans le meme genre que le Kraken, mais plus finement réalisé, moins épais et plus typé agrumes avec toujours ce coté sirupeux foncé.
The taste is verry good. The best ron ever. It's a must have.
The nose is very familiar – huge wafts of raspberry flavoured bubblegum.
"It tastes like a reduced sugar Marmalade. Full of that slightly bitter artificial sweetener like taste."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Better than original but far from great

I tested original Don Papa like a year ago. I dont remember the taste of it but I remember it wasnt anything special. Ten years old version is far better but still has a lot space to grow in quality. In Czech Republic you can get a bottle of 10yo for over 150USD and I dont really think this rum is worth of that money.
Bottle: Original Don Papa had a nice bottle and 10yo is almost the same, just in different colors. Its kinda pretty, but no original idea here.
Color: semi-dark with notes of melted gold.
Smell: I can smell some spice from Don Papa yet I am not sure about which it is. I smell some raisins and vanilla. There is almost no trace of alcohol smell at all, because its killed with sweetness. You can smell caramel as well
Taste: When you put Don Papa into a glass you can see its very sweet from how the liquid moves in the glass. And yes, it is very sweet. And also very smooth. It has very light traces of alcohol, but what you can taste most is caramel, raisins and sweetness in general. Some kind of dried fruit and thats all.
Don Papa 10yo is not bad. I wouldnt refuse it if it was offered to my to drink, but definitelly not buying a bottle of my own.
