Enjoyed a bottle of Old Captain Silver Rum while vacationing in the Finnish wilderness. Boring bottle and label design. Ckear color. Plenty of pure alcohol, vanilla and oak to your nose and palate when neat sipped. Harsh burn at the end.
Only to mixed drinks (or with cola), taste and smell is like proper alcohol.
Typical white rum. Not much flavour, except some slight vanilla. Nothing nasty or disgusting either, all in all pretty neutral. Surprisingly smooth, no burn. There is a strong initial ethanol smell in the aroma though, with hints of lingering chemicals in background. Should make a good neutral mixer, on par, or slighty better than white Bacardi. I could drink straight, if nothing else was available.
Heavy on the artificial flavouring, don't like it. The 5 year old captain is a lot better, but there is so much better stuff you can buy, better skip this one...
