Great rum with tastes of fruit, wood, caramel and also coffee.
Smooth long lasting taste.
Add some ice to enrich the flavours.

Light at start but strong startling and woody go through with herb ending. Of course sense of alcohol is present.

Enjoyed this one very much. It comes in a nice box and an even nicer bottle which looks great. Very soft, delicate and inviting nose. Taste is smooth and not as sweet as I had expected but very balanced. With 43% it has a slight kick going down when drinking straight up. All in all a great rum!

Unlike a lot of other destilleres, they did not just go sweeter on their single vintages. Holds 43%, so it has a small kick to it. Still has the sweet caramel and vanilla notes.

Diplomatico Reserva Exclusiva was the rum that started me on Rum. It's bit too sweet for me now so was looking for the next step up in balance and complexity which I hoped would be the Single Vintage. Given it was twice the price of the Exclusiva and well reviewed I was hoping for great stuff and it almost delivered, except it had a bit of a weird taste note running through it. Can't put my finger on it but definitely stops it being a firm favourite. Wouldn't buy again for the price

N- After the underwhelming 2002 and 2004, hopes are not high with this one, but it turn out that this particular vintage are well crafted and restore some respect on this special vintage release to commemorate the few excellent harvest years on sugar cane in Venezuela history. Rock sugar jar, white coffee and also dark cherries, thick and smoggy strength teases the nose well, landed quite full with distant rubbery scents and ashy roughness. Well layered for long nosing and this gives you something recognizable. (87/21)

P- Balanced of waxy dried fruits, oily, floral and roasted brown sugar. Sugar probably added, but at good measures. Oak came thru well with hearty feels. (85/19)

F- Medium long, lasting gingery coat. Waxy, hint of creamy bitter oak, unsalted peel nuts. (87/21)

B/B- 86/20

i drank this rum straight up and i really enjoyed it. it has a very sweet body and you can clearly taste the sherry cask in his body. For me it is almost to sweet, it has complex taste and a longholding ending.
overall a very good sipping rum, but i can imagine that some won't like it because of his very sweet body
