a rhum to discover.
Santa Lucia 1931 give you a real sens
St. Lucia Distilleries hit another home run with this rum. Very smooth and delicious. A great sipping rum that belongs in your collection. Very reasonable priced rum (around $32 US). The distillery needs to get rights to sell in the US. I'm waiting.
To this very day, this has to be the best stuff that i've ever put inside my mouth. With zero sugar added, a multitude of blends happily married, from different distillation processes, with both molasses and agricole, result into outstanding aroma and divine taste, which reminds you of wood, leather, smoke and an old, stylish, premium feel overall. The one before the last serving from the bottle, loses part of the intensity from its smell and a small fraction of its complex taste, but the very last serving results into a perfect explosion inside your mouth, bringing orgasms to your taste buds! Edible solids at the bottom were spicy, tasty, a real surprise, turning the very last gulp of it into something like a "psychedelic drug" (strong sensation, dizziness)! Funkiest fun i've ever had, ever since i started on my rum journey!
Tasted all their rums, nothing stood out except for a not front runner. nothing tasted as if it had been manipulated so i am guessing you are getting their true flavor.
Butter and vanilla immediately are the first notes recognizable on the nose. There was a little too much after burn so after adding water oaky wood were3 more noticeable on the mouth.
Bought this at the distillery in St Lucia. Can’t recall the exact price but less than $40 US
Un rom mai straight.. Nu foarte fin dar deosebit. Are o căldură interesantă și aftertaste-ul suficient de lung.
Really like their other stuff but expected their most premium blend to taste more, well, premium. Not bad, mostly oak and Tobacco, just a bit of poor distilling I think.**
**edit: I must have been drunk - this is really good stuff. Increased my rating by two on this go-around.
Sipping this rum offers a rich experience
"The mouthfeel is slightly dry and spicy. Oak and vanilla are very much present. This rum is pretty well balanced but not quite perfect."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

very nice color ...good legs and as this is certainly a sipping rum no need for even ice... smell the bouquet before you try your first sip... swirl the glass and look at the legs on the side of your snifter then allow your taste buds to explore the complexities...had to wait two years to try this but took back 3 bottles so i will not have to horde it for awhile at least
