Rigtig god rom. Og helt vildt god i forhold til prisen.

kenne diesen rum aus dem adventskalender 1423. und war mein absoluter favorit! preis leistung stimmt für mich 80.- sfr. pro flasche.

Ron Esclavo XO Rum blander sig mellem de bedste fra Den Dominikanske Republik. Smuk farve og tilpas sødme.

Really interesting rum. It has an amazing odor. It sends you in direction of something really sweet and nice. Touch of orange and sweetness. The taste is nice and sweet. It is a little strong in the after taste - in a great way. Recommended for the experienced rum taster.

I found this a good rum -
a sweet nose with vanilla, oak, mollases and above all brown sugar
Those tastes are all there in the mouth but it does taste quite sweet. I suspect it has a lot of added sugar and caramel - I haven't checked as I write this...
But, you now what, other rums have added sugar and just did more for me on the first and second taste - El Dorado 12, Diplomatico Exclusiva Reserva (which has a much richer and longer lasting flavour and kick)
I don't want to damn this with faint praise, because I'd say that it was worth an 8 (maybe a 7.5 if I could). Further tastings may reveal more, who knows, but I did find it just a tad samey - good, but samey.
I didn't find the aftertaste to be particularly long.

Nose; Sweet, soft but still with a punch. Honey, vanilla, arrack, toffee and different spices. I like whisky too and Ron Esclavo XO makes me think of Kavalan Solist Sherry Cask. Great stuff!
Palate; First. A lovely oiliness. Then caramel, syrup, vanilla, chocolate, honey, tasty oak and arrack. The palate is sweet but the alcohol punch prevents it from beeing too sweet.
Finish; A warming and creamy finish with a touch of coffee.
Overall; Rich and beautiful in every way with an excellent balance. One of my favourites.

A very nice mix of vanilla and oak with a strong finish.
The rum is a great value for the money.

Very sweet, but still quite strong. Need some time to breathe though.

Just compared this to the 12 years old. In the nose I had the idea it was a bit closed but after the first nip I got in the mood, very nice, vanille, caramel, mouthfilling, sweet finish.
