Captain Morgan Spiced Rum is made by combining yeasts, molasses, water and mash, which are then distilled in a continuous still. The rum is aged for up to 1 year followed by the addition of spices and flavors indigenous to the Caribbean Islands.
Captain Morgan Spiced is owned by Diageo and produced in Puerto Rico by the famous Destilieria Serralles, Inc. The company Captain Morgan is named after the 17th-century Welsh privateer of the Caribbean, Sir Henry Morgan was an admiral in the Royal British Navy who earned a knighthood in 1674.

This has a pleasant vanilla, honey, and marshmallow smell and taste to it, albeit it seems to lack a solid core rum flavor (maybe I've gotten too used to aged rums). Quite easy drinking and smooth at only 35%, but again, it seems to lack a core rum flavor and is somewhat artificial tasting.
It was the first rum I have tasted and it was not that good to be honest. It is okay when mixed with cola but do not expect anything great. If you do not have money for something better, and want to drink rum with your friends on a party, this one will do just fine. Do not even think to drink it straight up... seriously.
Sugar: 43 gpl. This is basically a light white rum with caramel and some baking spices. The flavors would be lost in anything you mixed it with leaving you with just the rum effects. If you run out of unflavoured rum and are mixing drinks, this will do in a pinch. I am not saying it's a bad rum, but if you don't like the bolder tastes of other spiced rums, this one might be for you. There are better spiced rums, but for bars and budgets this will do just fine.
The first rum I had, good for mixing and its cheap, but not overly nice on its own. Good with coke.
Good if you have little change to spare and still want an okay drink.
They should rename this stuff "Candy Morgan" because that's what it taste like...Go for Brugal or Kraken, you'll thank me for spending the extra scratch for a Rum that doesn't make you want to writhe on the floor in disgust..
Even with coke, a lot of coke, you still get that ugly alcohol bite. Tastes like chemical. I prefer Sailor Jerry over this every time.
Bedre en min forventning om en rom kun for unge brus hoveder
Det er denne rom til gengæld også fremragende til. Husker tilbage til mine unge dage, hvor Morgen og cola var min hof drik. Heldigvis bliver man klogere med tiden.
Strong vanilla flavor. Not much else in the way of complexity, but was enjoyable to drink sitting around a campfire on a long bikepacking adventure.
The perfect wingman for coke

This is most people's entry to the world of spiced rum, but is unfortunately only popular due to its low price point and wide availability.
To its credit, Morgan's Spiced does match well with coke, if you don't mind the overpowering vanilla flavour. Ginger beer/ale is not such a good combination though, which is not something I should need to say about any rum.
I only order this, always with coke, when I'm stuck at a bar that has nothing better.
