Captain Morgan Spiced Rum is made by combining yeasts, molasses, water and mash, which are then distilled in a continuous still. The rum is aged for up to 1 year followed by the addition of spices and flavors indigenous to the Caribbean Islands.
Captain Morgan Spiced is owned by Diageo and produced in Puerto Rico by the famous Destilieria Serralles, Inc. The company Captain Morgan is named after the 17th-century Welsh privateer of the Caribbean, Sir Henry Morgan was an admiral in the Royal British Navy who earned a knighthood in 1674.

The rum is interested, but don't like this variant
I avoid smelling the bottle because it reminds me the worst hangover I had.
Great party ingredients indeed
Everyone's first rum and very 'run of the mill' nothing special but doesn't do anything wrong, or anything particularly right either. Wouldn't say no to a gifted bottle but I can always find a preferred one if I'm paying. I've had worse.
This was not only my first rum, but my first drink ever. It provided me with a great segway to other, better rums. While I now realize that this rum has far too much vanilla, it is still one of my favorites.
If you drink this straight you need help. None of the flavors come through straight. It tastes like a trash can smells unless mixed.
Many will say it's cheap but to me it's the best dark rum ever. So much flavor and smooth taste
Think people can be a bit snobby about this due to the name on the label. It is a fair rum without knocking your socks off, particularly given its price. It is more for mixing but does that job well.
Nothing special but far way from being the worst spiced rum on the market.
It’s been years since I’ve had the Original Captain Spiced and it’s actually better than I remembered. Of course I always drank it in coke at a bar, but it’s ok on its own. The nose has some caramel, Vanilla, and a hint of spice. The mouth is a mix between spice and sweet with vanilla dried fruits and caramel. Some say it will do in a pinch, I say it will do anytime. It’s not a high priced Rum, I’ve had others in this range that were better, but it’s not bad and you drink what you like.
Not a bad rum but nothing special. Only to be used as a mixer.
The perfect wingman for coke

I tasted it straight, but perhaps it would do better as a mixer.
