Plantation Original Dark Trinidad

This was designed and blended to be a mixing rum. In that role, it performs admirably. Yummy pot still flavors rounded out by the blend, not too much oak, unfortunately a little sweetened (who cares if its going in a cocktail?). A bargain for $18 USD

Long finish, but otherwise lighter than what I expected for Barbados/Jamaican rum.

Compared to the others in the giftpack this one did not stand out much, but stil a decent rhum

I’ve got in love with it. I feel raisins, I feel cognac in the background. I’m not a fan of English rum style but this one I love. Not too smooth, not to sharp. Great blend. Just great in this price range. Great to be sipped

Can't get better real rum for this price. Distinctive flavor in cocktails.

Not as wonderfull as the XO, but good none the less. Nice taste ans colour. But for smoothness take the XO

Medium sweetness, still a bit light on the nose but enjoyable and smooth.

This is a fantastic low price rum with one big problem. It’s not sold in Sweden. Since corona and Germany closings all border shops I can’t get hold of it.

This rum was my first taste in the dark rum world and I still keep a bottle on the shelf for cocktails and occasional sipping. It has nice flavor but not much complexity. I used to think it was better until I tried aged rums such as Mount Gay XO, and Appleton 12. Now when I mix the Plantation Original Dark in a cocktail, I use no more than 1 oz. and combine it with better flavored older rums.

Easier drinking and quality rum for sipping. Recommended for this price.
