This rum is fine. It's fine! Actually, it works rather well as an introduction to traditionally Jamaican hogo flavors. It has a simpler flavor profile than other Jamaican rums, going lighter on the developed , overripe fruity notes and leaning more on baking spices, while also going sweeter. This switch up does kind of give the sweetness of the rum an almost artificial vibe, as it doesn't feel as much like an organic result of the rest of the concoction, with that fruit being taken back.

This does provide a really gentle backdrop for that pot still funkiness to come through. It has a real soft landing. Even my fiance likes this one, though she's not a big fan of drinking liquor straight, or rum, or Jamaican rum in particular.

Speaking of drinking the stuff straight... It's fine. The nature of the drink does make it a natural mixer, though, and even a little bit of something else helps this stuff really shine. I've been having good success mixing a couple of fingers of this stuff with the juice from a quarter of an orange, garnished with an orange wedge. A lazy sipping cocktail that works.

Pretty bog standard dark rum, it's decent but nothing special.

Good aromas, vanilla and banana, and good taste on the palate.

Tasted at Kill Devil Rum Club Plantation tasting 5/28/20 at Laka Lono.
Delightful rum with a smooth finish that lasts a long time.
This the rum that secured me as a Plantation fan.

Expected more, since other Plantation Rums are great sippers.
Nose: some leather, smoke and…i don‘t know.
Palate: smooth but poor in taste. Short.

The smell has a little funk or Ester or something. But then the flavor is much more subdued, vanilla sort of peach or something fruity and slightly sweet. Slight cocoa: coffee
The smell in the flavor both have a little bit of the heat or harshness

Többet vártam tőle. Sokkal. Igen közepes rum. Kólába rakjátok max.

Brown sugar and molasses on the nose and palate. Slight ripe banana on the nose. A small astringent note on the mid-palate and a short, slightly bitter finish. OK to sip, great for cocktails calling for dark rum.

Molasses, some dry fruits. Very inoffensive dark rum. It doesn’t shine, but it will do its job.

Which... Of course it's not. But as it turns out I love the heat of oftd. This has a similar dried apricot, dried peach, caramelized banana thing. It's lovely and smooth. Excellent neat. Pleased a few bourbon friends and a rum snob friend... All together a steal at the price and a terrific shelf staple for cocktails or sipping.
